These "Gun buy back programs"

i just saw on the news how stores are selling out of guns and gun related items. everyone is afraid they won't be able to buy them anymore so sales have spiked. people are selling their old, rusty guns and using the cash to buy new shiny ones.

just to touch on number one, of course i don't think the guns are destroyed... the same way i don't think any popo or federal agency is burning drugs that they confiscate ... that shit just doens't happen imo.. no way they're just going to burn free money..

They do burn the drugs ... slowly and with ceremony. cn

i traded nothing in but i DID manage to acquire one of the last 4 AR lowers i could find in the area.

And for those habitual criminals, they have a safe way to be rewarded $100-200 for each theft they commit successfully.

Successfully being a key word. Theft of guns is a risky business but there are those who take that risk. And a gun buyback program sounds like an easy fence to me.

Ah, fair point... I guess that's why the Uk ones are free... For those that just do not want to have that item in their possession at no gain other than to be rid of the gun. But I guess corrupt people will find a way to exploit everything :'(

Me and my friend went out of town to go christmas shopping and we stopped at a sporting goods store so he could get some shoes and I wanted to see if they had some ammunition for my old M95 Steyr. You couldn't even walk over there and there was hardly any ammo left on the counters, there was a long line of people buying firearms too.

Anyone know where to get 8X56 Hungarian ammo at BTW, I haven't found anywhere that sells the stuff, even online.

Do people selling all this shit never feel a little bad or weird or wonder what on earth people want to DO with a lethal weapon like that? fair enough you are allowed to have them, but why are they desired so damn much? And so gloated over? I mean you might need to defend yourself from attack but this pride over having something that says 'I could fuck you up with this' amongst normal peaceful citizens disturbs me a little... I dunno :/

Once the government seems to threaten citizens rights and amendments or we feel like it's an unjust law, Americans will protest, it's just in our blood.

This IS IS IS IS WRONG we have a second amendment right to have gun. i had to once call a guy and pay him for a gun. i didnt even think to have myself put on a list as a registered owner,i dont think its anyones business if i have one. the numbers where filed down and it was a great investment and i wouldnt change it. now that i know not a person i now have to go get a registered weapon. but i swear the first government agent who trys to take it will get" im sorry sir but it was stolen 6 months ago"

edit, my grandparents are the most hard core christians yoou'll meet and i asked about the same thing, grandma told me "i dont think its anyones business"
Hehe better hope there isn't any dirt on that gun.
could have a body count, that you could hang for.

The empowerment of having some small bit of control over your own destiny imo.

Kuroi, most gun owners are good people. The kind of people that would defend a stranger if they needed it. We have guns to make sure all things are good and equal. All we want is a chance to defend ourselves, or you, when someone with ill intentions wants to do harm. Don't hate the tool; hate the dickhead that makes you use it.

I just don't think anyone is justified in shooting somebody, period. By that logic, if one country has nuclear weapons every country should be allowed nukes too to make it a level playing field, when really it's better if nobody has them. You can't take a gun from the hands of every criminal, but if they are harder to get hold of than just stealing
from a legal owner and if people know they are caught with any kind of weapon they are in trouble, it'll make it harder for those weapons to be on the street. I cannot fathom how the public is allowes that kind of destructive power and people act /surprised/ at the reaction to the latest shooting. And thankyou but don't shoot over me. If you're talking about defending me from attackers I'd have a lot of blood on my hands..

Making someone else a victim isn't ok either. If you shoot them before they shoot you, how are you better other than getting their first? And how do you prove it was 'self defense'. Like that Travyon Martin shit...

the nuke comparison doesn't work for a couple of reasons. first, only governments have nukes, not individuals. government vs government and citizen vs citizen are two COMPLETELY different things. one is group vs group (collective identity) and the other is individual people with individual behaviors, needs, and attitudes. are you immune from being victimized by your neighbor because your government is at war with a country? one has nothing to do with the other.

second, 9 countries (many of whom don't get along and have actually been at war with one another) have nukes, but for some reason no one is using them. take a guess at why there hasn't been nuclear warfare in almost 70 years. go on, guess.

you seem to be hung up on this idea that "if there are less guns, there will be less murder and carnage", and that is just not realistic. no one is using nukes, but does that mean there are no wars? it should interest you to know that our stupid high shooting rate is mostly due to gang violence, not people defending their wife and kids. it is estimated by the FBI that OVER 70% of gun murders are due to gang violence. think about that. that would mean that without gangs, America could have a crime rate below fucking CANADA. is your mind blown yet? it should be.

All i know is this, they try and take my guns i will do everything i can to take their lives first.

Its a little different here.Thank god.We had 5 killings around here with zero charges filed in a year.People protecting themselves at its finest

those who make themselves defenseless , i hate to say it deserve what they get. you give up your gun you have no right to complain when your house is broken into or anything of the sort. the 2nd amendment is there for that reason use it or loss the right to speech when someone tramples on you take your pick

Me still breathing while my attacker is not doesn't make me better than him but it does make me more able to care for me and mine than him.

One has to be able to clearly communicate that they were in fear of their life or the lives of others. Not too hard to do when someone has a weapon.

What about the person whom has no gun because it was stolen from him and he cannot afford to replace it, does he deserve what he gets too ?

And I dont know if gun buyback programs are for getting illegal guns off the streets, at all. I thought its there for getting guns out of homes of people who just don't want them anymore, like say an old lady who's recently widowed or somebody who has a child on the way.
