When a seedbank says x amount of days till harvest
They are counting from
1 Showing sex
2 Flipping lights
3 pre flowers
Which one
I know all about looking at trichs but was just wondering where the breeders start their countdown

I think most seedbanks go from the light switch ,
I myself go from 1 week in or pre flower.
I have read that it can vary depending on the seedbank.

To assume that all seedbanks are meaning from 12/12 light switch to me , is silly.

Most strains take about 1 week to switch from veg growth to pre-flower,
So it is sensible to assume that this week is still actually classed as "vegative growth"
So actual flower growth would commense after this week,
surely this is the time you should start from,
it'sobvious to me,
I also think some seedbanks think that shorter advertised flowering times will sell more packets....
just a theory.....

i've asked this question myself cheesus and got pretty much the same answer you're coming up with.. some people say start 2 weeks after the flip, and others say start the day you flipped... some say start when you see pistil formation, but when exactly is that? is it when you see your first pistil, or when you see 21 or watt??

as for me, i usually start the day i flip, but my times usually go a good 2 weeks or so past the time a breeder says it should be done, so it makes me question my method..

For indoor growing it means from the light switch to 12/12 unless noted otherwise. Counting from when they have flowers leaves more room for interpretation. Counting from when they start budding is useful for outdoor though but people usually just say what part of what month for that.

I read where the breeder forgot who it was said
dont go by the trichs chop at day 53. But never said when the start of day 53 was.
was it
53 from flip
53 from showing sex

and if its 53 from showing sex does that count preflowering which could occur anytime before flipping the lights
In this particular case the breeder said going past day 53 would actually decrease the potentcy.

a plant will never ever , not ever perform to an exact date, nor will two plants from two seeds ever be the same.

Cinderella 99 BX-1

Type: Regular
Climate: Indoor, Outdoor
Flowering: 52 Days
Yield: Moderate
Height: Short
Indica/Sativa: Mostly Sativa
Effect: Cerebral
Flavour: Tropical Fruit
THC Level: ?????
Growing: Easy to moderate

Direct quote from breeder
Glad you stopped in Yikesy! My Winning Cinderella 99 BX entry in the 2010 ICMag
Cup was harvested at 54 days. Like 40Amp mentioned above, your Cinderella 99
will be ELECTRIC! Right now we are about to harvest some Cinderella 99 BX ladies
at 54 days. The colas are nice and big and smell like a can of Dole Pineapples,
YUMMY!!! Will take some pics and post tomorrow.

My suggestion would be
for you to clip a bud every 3 days and label them up until final harvest. So
after you dry and cure all the buds, you will be able to sample all and decide
which bud you prefer to smoke and how many days into harvest that bud grew for
in flowering.

Answering this question would imply that there is some sort of industry standards in place. The only way you'll probably ever know is experimentation or somehow directly contacting the breeder.

Showing sex and pre flowers are the exact same thing, FYI :)

Yeah I know
But Flipping the lights is irregardless of showing sex
You can veg for many more weeks after showing pre flowers
I didn't say anything about flipping the lights. I was merely informing you that a plant showing sex is the same thing as pre flower. A plant obviously will show sex (pre flower) before you induce flowering. I was pointing out the redundancy of posting both "showing sex" and "pre flower" as two different options, when they are in fact the same thing.
