What are other"blueberry" and blueberry hybrids like compared to DJ Shorts "true blueberry"? Is it as good? Reports much appreciated!

Not sure if this is absolutely true. But rumor has it that the Canadians developed the first blueberry strain. DJ short's is the most famous and most stable. I believe BC Bud Depot carries it if my first statement is valid. Dutch passion commissioned DJ short and they have their version as well. Definately not as stable as DJ shorts. DJ shorts line revolves around his blueberry strain so if you want to look into hybrids then stick with that amazing cat.

As you can probably tell from my screen name, Blueberry is my favorite strain. DJ Shorts beans are pricey but he gets some of my money every year. Hemp depot used to sell a blueberry by the brand "Joey Weed" which was about as close to the Dj shorts strain (He may have borrowed it from DJ's stock) as I ever grew and was down right cheap but Joey Weed seems to have dropped out a year or two ago. Maybe DJ is using him as compost....:)

I pay the money and have never been dissapointed, except when I run out!

Crazy prices indeed....thats why I want too know if the generics are as good as or better than Djs.... Any one grown the BC version?

Thanks for the input guys...

Another unique early flowering strain he does is called Flo. EVERYBODY should try that at least once! You will love it and it will make you lie to your friends about being out when you're really not.

I grew my first DJ Shorts beans in 1978, tried others when I didn't want to or couldn't pay the freight and 25 years later I haven't found anything that beats the real thing. Hemp depot has them in stock, Attitude is out. If I could only have two strains to last the rest of my life, his Blueberry and Flo would be my choices. If you have the cash, treat yourself. You wii be glad you did.

I'm counting on that one. Got my pack and I'm waiting for a few more weeks to start them. I want to go outdoors with them. I'm around the lower portion of the Great lakes. Do you have any input on my chances to finish these well outside? Any tips on what phenos to be on the lookout for? there is plenty of info out there about Flo, but it's harder to get good indepth descriptions concerning this strain. Care to share you experience reguarding Flo and Blueberry?

Ive also been growing DJ's blueberry for about 15 years, ive tried many different hybrids of it as well and i will always pick DJ's blueberry over them all. Nice and uniform and very stable. Ive tried dutch passions and its mediochre in comparison. The only other one that comes close is sagarmartha's blueberry bud which was originally DJ's blueberry but they isolated a different phenotype of it. It also comes out pretty uniform and smokes well too :)

flo is such a great smoke. I had an oz of that, sour D, MK ultra, and some golden goat. All GREAT smokes, and the oz of flo was the first to go! Cant wait to get some more.

Get PeakseedsBC version. Every plant I've grown from them is worthy so far. Sweet Skunk moving into my all time fav lists. He had packs from all different sources and years so as the line changed he maintained it. Then stabilized it. He's good at this and his prices are low.

AFAIK DJ Short lost a parent plant at some point and has since had to remake the strain. So it's not that dissimilar from what Peakseeds has done.

DJ Short has two strains of Blueberry. True Blueberry is an indoor only strain and I have never tried that outside. I beleive that chain has not been broken and if anybody knows for a fact it was, don't tell me. I don't want to know! :) The "newer" indoor/outdoor strain was made from European stock and is very similar to the PeekseedBC version, which I have't personally raised. But I have tried it and it was pretty good but I didn't have the utmost regard for that grower, so take that for what it's worth.

You live in the USDA hardiness zone of 5 or 6 but local conditions around the Great Lakes can vary widely, as you surely are aware. Forty or 50 miles one way or the other you can make a huge difference. September and October rainfalls on the eastern ends of lakes Michigan, Erie and Ontario can raise havoc with fall harvests but their warming effect can also work in your favor. It's Mother Nature.

The nice thing about Flo is that if you get a mild fall, you can have a new harvest every 10 days to two weeks starting the last two weeks of September, give or take a week. This can last until early November if the weather holds. Having a secure grow is paramount because if you have to chop it in September you can miss out on quite a bit of production.

Don't put anything in the ground until soil temps get warm or things will just sit there until they do. Good luck!

SO would you guys recommend his blueberry, or the true blueberry? I will only be growing indoors, but when I grow some blueberry I want the flavor to be there.

here is the most informative write up on DJ's genetics and the difference between his offerings that i have found.

Hybrids of BB are always really good IME. I purchased Joey Weed's version a while back because they were so much cheaper. Since he's no longer around, E$ko probably has the most affordable line with the BB sativa at sannies shop. I have heard a lot of good things about peak seeds as well.

Thanks BB. That's useful info. I've read that statement on the seed shop descriptions of flo, but I always feel more secure in knowing when someone who isn't trying to sell me something agrees with the statement. Weather wise, we can get help or hinderence from the lake around here, so it's usually a wash as far as counting on a particular weather pattern goes. September usually plays ball, but October is always a wild card around here. I think I'll just stay inside with my beans and not roll the dice with them, at least while my pheno hunt is going on.

And whats your preference between his blueberry and true blueberry ?? What's the actual difference ? I never fully understood that...
