my plants are roughly 6 weeks old 8 invhes tall in 8 inch by 8 inch pots. how much water should i use per plant when i water them?

You should try to get a feel of the weight of your container when it's moist. When the container feels really light water it.

Yes it is. You want to make sure all the soil is getting moist & this is the best way to ensure that. ORECAL has given me some nice advice.
