Whats up guys got some spare cash and was thinking of getting a dimmable 600 as my room space gets over hot in summer months and thought the idea of running a 400 if needs be sounds good, need silence aswell, which one lumatek or century sun dimmable. Can the century really dim a 600w to 360w?

I use Phantom ballasts. I've had 8 for about 2 years now and not one problem. They don't even make a sound and you can stand them "upright" or lay them on there side.

solis tek. I dunno about you but I find myself at the hydro store a lot, J leaves all returned ballasts right there behind the counter, the only brand I've seen is lumatek . one dual 600 watt melted to fuck. I recently bought a phantom and it didn't last a cycle. I was told I'd get a new one but opted for a solis tek matrix, I don't believe I'll be looking back.

Just received the same one and love it. I was having issues with a cheap Chinese balast intertek model It Wouldn't fire properly via timer lesson learned you get what you pay for.
very true... I use lumatek as well... No complains...

Lumatek is a quality ballast, but for the price they have been known to have issues as well. I use both Galaxy, and also the "cheap" ReVolt dimmable ballast. The ReVolt is actually very good for the price.

If you're gonna dim, you're going to try to get as close to matching lamp as possible. For example I often run a revolt 400w dimmable ballast at the 75% setting with a 250w lamp. It's basically overpowered by 50w, but I'm good with that. I'd rather overpower by 50w than underpower by 50w personally.
