So when i set my baby plants sleep for 6h (18/24). Do i need to turn off my fan also? and just leave the door open them to get some air? Or anyway do they got disturbed if i leave door open, some little light can come in from other room. Or do i turn it off at all? they are 1 week old. :blsmoke:

Thanks.

when in veg, you can do 18/6 or 24/0, meaning the rest period is optional. This also means that you don't have to worry about complete darkness.

leave the fan on. it feeds your plants and helps them to get stronger.

Sigh.

Complete darkness, leave the fan on, read the grow faq and some of the posts in newbie central

complete darkness is not necessary in veg, only in flower.
I use 24 hr light for veg too... but LIGHT LEAKS are bad ALL OF THE TIME- EVEN IN VEG. If you're using 18/6- the six hrs of darkness need to be dark.

I agree with ceestyle why do buds outside flower even though the moon shines onn them?

fullmoon light I believe is .03 lumens per sq foot, so in nature night is pretty much pure black. If you do 18/6 you don't technically need complete darkness, but if you have light peiring in your plants won't necessarily go into their sleeping/night mode and will instead waste their energy stretching towards the light. Over a small period of time like a few days it whouldn't matter but through 1-2 months of vegging it could have some negative effect.

so many experiments i want to do.

the stretch response must be proportionate in some way to the light applied. so a tiny light leak of an overhead room light is probably not enough for a plant to stretch to.

as far as 'sleep mode' is concerned, it seems that if that were critical, we would see a drastically different behavior between 18/6 and 24/0 plants, which we apparently don't ...
