I've always partially judged people on how well they can articulate themselves via text. A lot can be said about how you spell and put together sentences. Especially age.

Seriously though, I have always done this as well, for better or worse. I'm not too critical of spellings, but I do "read between the lines" of what someone is saying quite thoroughly, and if I feel like we're not seeing eye to eye communicationally I do not usually waste my time trying to converse with someone. I believe this has helped me to avoid many a scam/manipulator, in fact. Many people hide behind unclear communication in order to avoid revealing the fullness of their intention to you. The biggest red flag is if you are asking specific questions which are being conveniently overlooked repeatedly... I avoid such people like the plague--they are usually trying to get something from ya without any give.

More an more, we are on the run and on our pads or our phones. I can understand the shorthand and what not. There's a difference between that and outright laziness and/or ignorance.
This is a forum, and written English is the primary form of communication. It helps if you can read. It helps if you can write. We don't all have to read and write lengthy essays and whatnot. although this forum can also offer us those opportunities. In fact, I think a book (at least one) should be part of your first grow kit. Why the fuck does anyone ask "What kind of soil do I need?" Read, then post. Go ahead - still ask questions. But read, then post. It is easy. It is fun. It might be hard, but it gets better with practice.
At the very least, at least watch some videos. I lost track of how many times my response in Newbie Central was nothing more than a link to the Jorge Cervantes Grow Videos sticky in Newbie Central. I get likes for pointing out the obvious. I get rep for common sense. I mean, thanks, but wtf??? Why is common sense rep-worthy?

I've never been impressed with these people that pop up and say "hey you spelled that word wrong, so I think I'm smarter then you". It just shows, (in my mind any way) that said people have some type of inferiority complex they can't let go of.
Cause everybody knows you could spell check with the computer if you want to. So it's really no big deal, is it?
