BUMP BUMP!! you mean to tell me NO ONE is interested in a 6'foot tall 100 % Sativa!??
OK true story follows, which is maybe why at least none of us old timers are impressed with a 6' plant.

1980. Me and a bud set out some potted plants on a National Wildlife Refuge in the lower midwest. We had a near perfect situation, the refuge was closed to the public, and we accessed the site by canoeing across a bay of a large lake. Water right there. Planted them, about 15 as I remember, under a smallish powerline that went through the refuge, like a service line to the refuge headquarters. Plants were already sexed. Believe it or not even in the dark ages we knew we could cut the light on seedlings, force them to sex out, then outplant the girls.

Anyhow, the plants were trimmed by the utility company as they were growing into the powerlines. They just took off a couple feet which was good, we should have topped them earlier, this was late august. Today they would have been hosed down with chemical herbicides. I won't venture a guess how tall they might have grown. Just imagine the lowest powerline you have seen and how tall a plant would have to be to intrude on them.

So growing some smoke is not as hard as we tend to make it. This grow involved starting and sexing some plants, outplanting, some miracle grow and a dozen trips to the site over the season. Anyway to all those that try to make this a really complicated thing it can be this easy. That was my second year growing and it was by far the most poundage I ever produced. It was ridiculous as I was not into marketing just smoking. I don't remember what strain it was but it was top shelf weed for that era, Acapulco gold, Kona gold, Panama Red or some asian I would guess. Definitely a sativa and not sure if any of these are sativas without looking.

Anyway thanks for letting me relive a great summer. Kudos for any 6' plant but you gotta see one growing into powerlines. And experience paddling a canoe-load of buds across a lake in October.

Peace - Aim

He`ll get a bigger hard on when the birds start nesting in them !!

OK,..seriously I felt the same when I realized that there`s nothing like an outdoor grow and the plants get rediculously larger than expected !!

You are in the big boys league, you`ll never grow small again. Don`t be shocked when your ounce bag is much smaller than a Hydro ounce,...Believe it or not,...that`s a good thing !!

Not sure what any of this means. Don't want to be in any league. Since 1980 I never went that big again, was always kind of scared with the marketing end, just wanted to recoup expenses and have plenty of smoke to enjoy and gift away. Don`t be shocked when your ounce bag is much smaller than a Hydro ounce - Really don't get this.

Anyway it was a great learning experience. Doing my first total indoor in a 5X5 right now, I can get by fine on one grow/year of 5 good plants.

Thanks for the tale of tall weed, what a day that must have been on harvest, I hope those hydro workers at least cloned what they trimmed off Man I love the great out doors.

Thanks

Hydro workers as in Hydro-Axe? Good observation, I have no idea what they trimmed with and was always thankful they just hit the top and didn't brush hog the whole right of way. Harvest day was 24 hours long with 3 of us. Used a hacksaw to cut lower limbs and stems, rough trimmed and trash bagged for the ride out. It was pretty much fun believe me.

Just an expression, I felt like a king when I got a moster grow unexpectedly. I walked right by it, several times cuz I could smell it but not see it. Turns out I was in it the whole time looking around instead of at it.

Back then I was doing it to survive, fresh outta jail for possession couldn`t find work. Then got greedy til I wised up. Now it`s just a habbit. Kids settled me down.

Hydro around here is lighter and smokes faster than a wild grow.

This year I had a dozer wipe me out . three years ago, I selected from a variety of choices and left the rest in the woods. Thirty years ago,..that was a major sin !!

They might have been Rippers waiting on harvest day, I have heard of rippers scoping out grows and just stealing everything, but I like the Hydro worker story a much nicer tale of respect.

OK, I get the hydro thing once you explained it. Not sure I have ever experienced hydro-weed. Just always smoked my own outdoor grow which is pretty good if I say so myself.

I imagine a dozer would be pretty tough on any plant. I had a grow onetime that some ATVs kept breaking over and damned if it did not turn out OK. You wanna top a plant it does not take a sterile razorblade and rubbing alcohol, just run over them a few times with a Honda 350 quad.

Definitely not, the entire powerline had been trimmed with some sort of tractor type mower. We debated this in case one of the mowers recognized the grow and might come back to help with the harvest. In the end we decided screw it let them ripen, whoever topped it thought it was just more giant ragweed which was mostly what they were trimming.

The trees, rocks and hills were gone, Road crew didn`t even know what they did !! It was on going about a week before I went to harvest. Dozer was as big as a house !!

Hey bro! Glad you posted up! Don't hate. ;) j/k. You gotta admit though its not everyday that you do see a 6'foot tall plant growing inside the old ladys "bathroom"! And a 100% pure Sativa at that! Don't know if you had read the post/journal or not but my dad had gave these beans of this strain, he had got it with a bunch & it was a "mystery" batch. Anyways, he is no longer with me "in the living sense"!! But definatley in spirit! I know he is looking down & helping me out with my grows, since he is the one that had actually taught me how to grow back in the day! "80's". That's a good story you posted though! Would've been great if y'all snapped off a picture or two! ;) How much did you end up yeilding off a monster/monsters like them?? I can't wait till summer hits! I've took quite a bit of clones from this Sativa! Being if she's grown like this indoors!! Shit.... can you imagine what she will do "outdoors"!!?? It will be awesome, as was your grow!! I will be posting up video's & also pics of it all!! I am also planning on moving my grow room from the old ladys "bathroom" to a outdoor building here within a week or so! I am going to be needing some help with setting it up in there! As in the wiring of a "breaker box"! I do know the basics of wiring, just never installed a breaker box! Anyways, its always better to have more them 1 grower on one grow! Two or three minds are better then one! Right? I will also be doing DWC along with my soil grows in there aswell! I plan on getting the $ fundage to do all this here soon! And the woman promised/made a deal with me that if I get my "jungle" out of her bathroom, she will let me have 600 to 800$ to beaf up my grow, & also add more strains to my collection! Can't wait! Its going to be a hell of a ride! ;)
I hope to see you here! Glad you did stop in though! Don't stay a stranger bro. Hollar back at me anytime! Your friend, Dank.

Yeah! Damn that pisses me off just thinking about it!! I had that shit happen to me a few moons ago! Lol.. I had a huge White Widow growing out in the woods by a old lake, only a few heads knew about it being there! It was a big hang out spot for partying & shit back then. Well, it was a huge as rock quarry actually, a crew of workers where working with backhoes & dozers & ended up hitting a "water line"!! Needless to say the quarry filled up,covering there equipment & everything! It was the "bluest green" water you had ever seen!! It was NICE!! Anyways, I had planted the "WW" up ontop of a ledge overlooking it. I went there no more then twice to feed! Once during vegging & the other during flowering. It was looking awesome during flowering!! I couldn't wait for harvest time to roll around!! ;) well, it got up near the last of Oct, & I went up to harvest it around 10'clock at night, and I felt funny for some reason! Like somthing was wrong! I got to the spot, & NO PLANT!! I was so pissed! All that hard work, blood & sweat, down the shitter!!! :cuss: there was yellow caution tape strung up all over the place! At 1st I thought, OH SHIT, the pigs got it! Then I thought to myself, they use "police line" tape. Well, I went back home all upset. The next day, I went to tell my suppose to be best friend. And "seen yellow caution tape"!! I knew right then he was the one that jacked my shit!! Needless to say, I started swinging!! That's one thing I can not handle is a damn theif!! If you want somthing I have, & I can afford to give it to you, then I will! Just don't steal from me!! That's 1 thing I can't handle is a damn theif!! Anyways, I left after whipping his ass & haven't seen him since!! I learnt the lesson that year, NEVER tell anyone about your grows!! Not even your "best" friends!! That's when my dad taught me how to hide my grows better in the woods, without anyone finding a single plant!!! ;)

------------------
1) No hate going in, just telling a story. Sorry if anyone felt I was/am hateful.

2) Really cool example of the difference in generations. Unless you were an Idiot you would not take a picture of your dope grow and take it to Walgreens to get the film developed. I.E there were no digital cameras ! We used 35 MM film or Instamatics, No digital you could download on your PC, oh yeah the PC was not even invented as I remember. But nice observation ! Funny

3) Yield was large, way more than we expected or even were equipped to deal with. Hate to say honestly because you would not believe me. It was a ton of smoke that we sold on the cheap and gave away. I remember making brownies 3 years later just to get rid of it, and we had done grows every year since. Back then there was no technology as to making hash. Had there been we probably have done that. But you COULD buy black and blonde hash, and hash oil, and honey oil. Damn I miss the 70's.
