I have a White Lavender going that put a leaf out the looks like 2 joined on the edges. The stem feeding it has two channels feeding it. The node that its growing from is directly above the next node down. It didn't grow staggered like normal. There also isn't a node on the opposite side of the plant. This node that the leaf grew from is where the plant grew out like a second top. It is catching up with the top of the plant. Its like it was topped but I didn't touch it. It happened about the 3rd or 4th node up from the bottom. Anyone ever have a plant do this?

I can't determine by your small clipping, but it sounds like Whorled Phylotaxy The phylotaxy describes how the nodes form on the stem, young plants have opposite nodes, and mature plants have alternate nodes. You can usually tell if it's whorled because there will be a node with 3 leaves/branches growing out of it. Not every node, just occasionally.

The main stem grew a node that shouldn't have been there. At this node, the plant split and now has two main stalks. I'll get a pic when lights turn on in an hour or so.

Here's a pic of the plant. You can see where the plant split into two. Main stalk is on left with odd node on right. You can see where I cut the leaf from just under the node. Anyways, the plant did this on its own. As this node grew on the wrong side of plant, the main stalk grew the on the other like it too was a node. You can also see where the big node on the right grew directly above the next set of nodes down, as opposed to a quarter of the way around the plant.

Now that you've explained it, I don't think it's Whorled. I think you just did an accidental topping. If the meristem is snipped, or pinched, or damaged in any way, the new growth is transferred to a couple of lower branches.

I did nothing to it. No trimming or training. That leaf was bulgy growing out. I finally removed it because it was blocking the branches under it. She did this all on her own. I've since topped and there is new growth everywhere!
