Fabric bag size for SS?

I just finished making my first batch of SS with Roots. I have 10 clones that are ready to be transplanted. I am going to buy fabric bags for vegg and flowering. After doing some reasearch, I am leaning towards 2 gallon for veg and 7 gallon for flower. I am going to get the GeoPot bag with velcro side for an easy transplant to the larger size. My flower room is 10x6. I will be vegging for 4-5 weeks.

What size bag would you recommend for both?

Yes, if you do it right. More space for rootball= more bud

I root my cuttings in an aero cloner. Should I move them to a 16 oz cup first then to the 2/3 gal bag? or can I just put my clone straight to the 2/3 gal bag?

I'm also doing 2 gallon Velcro and 7 gallon handles for my Geopots. It seemed to be the size/space sweet spot from my research.

Check out the Hydrofarm "Dirt Bag." Very sturdy, and the handles are double thick and run all the way beneath the grow bag. Nicer than anything I've seen. My 15 gal. bags were about $6.40. I veg in 3 gal. and keep em' going for about 8 weeks in veg, so I'm transplanting some sturdy girls. Tip training with wire and pinching them back keep the hight in check. Boy do they take off when they hit the 15 gal. bags!

I recently moved to the 10 Gallon Hydrofarm "Dirt Bags" from 7 Gal Smarties and transplant from 2 Gal hard pots.


I really like the "Dirt Bags", got the entire indoor and GH in them now.

I asked myself the same question, Frankie. I was trying to avoid a starter pot like a 2gal. that will touch the SS when I transplant to a 7gal with 50% SS. It seems hard to believe that a plant in Roots that is set on SS could make a good transition.. How do you super soilers go about it?

w/ some strains (my jilly for example) I put 3 party cups worth of SS at the bottom of my 2gal containers, kinda preps the larger plants.


If you have a nice heathy plant that has filled out a 2gal container, you shouldn't have any issues... just throw a little buffer layer in your hole.

Really depends how big you are trying to get your plants and the amount of light you are running. I grow short bushes under only 2 600"s and I use 5 gal smart pots. If you have the room and enough light and veg time, bigger the better.

So, I have decided to change to plastic pots for flowering through out the summer time. I will still be vegging in 2 gal bags. I was watching Subcools School of Dank: SS on YouTube and remembered that one of my reasons for changing to SS was for the WATER ONLY approach & you can be away for 4 days without worry! During the summer, I take my family camping and do other trips that require 4 days away, so I will stick with 7 gal or 10 gal plastics for now. In October, I will switch to the 7 or 10 Gal Dirt bags, and do a side-by-side comparison. 3 in Dirt Bags & 3 in Plastic pots.

I misread the post and responded.. I use the 7 gallon "dirt pots" by Hydro Farm..The first few weeks of flower I water about twice a week but as they mature say around week 4 or 5 I noticed I have to water every 2 days or so in the 7 gallon dirt pots by Hydro Farm.
