Hope you have decent soldering skills, and the patience of a saint.. no DIY kit can come close to the DIY plans you can find all over the web, just have to do parts shopping yourself. If the LEDs are under 1w a piece, do not use them - will be a waste of time.

But I've read if you use one's over 1w you have to arrange them in special spacings because of the increased heat or you just burn them out... sounds a lot more difficult is it?

There's going to be increased heat anyway.. nothing really changes, you'll still be doing mass soldering of diodes on the board, or your system will stop producing light when 1 burns out anyway. No matter how you see it, there will be -some- heat.. Proper build makes all the difference, to me anyway.

Don't mean to be a "smartass" or smthng ..
But ...
Asking for a DIY Led (grow light) kit ?

If I understand it correctly ,is like buying a ..IKEA ..led panel ...
"Tools included .(You assemble it) .Full assembling guide inside ."

( Shit ...Do they sell "ferrari" kits ?
Cant' afford buying one ? build it yourshelf ! )

Either it's gonna be a ready-made kit (even from a wide variety of parts..) or a DIY project ...

And DIY with leds can mean many different things itshelf ...
From attaching a led strip to grow tent with double sided tape , up to making really hi-tech,cutting edge fixtures -...

Not to mention details of such projects ....

Good luck ...

Message Merry and tell her what you want. She has a large selection of 1W and 3W diodes. She'll solder them to the heatsink core for you in the pattern/order you decide free of charge (ask her if she is willing to solder the LED's after discussing parts/cost), she'll recommend an LED driver, and she packages everything very well ime. Past that all you need to do is JB Weld the heatsink core to an extruded Aluminum heat sink of the right size (larger than the heatsink core) and solder the driver output and input wires accordingly. This is easier than a kit, imho, since you're not soldering hundreds of connections and nothing that you do have to solder is heat sensitive.

Here's mine:

Just grab a heatsink off eBay, some Osram Golden Dragons, a few tools and you're good to go.

I wrote a guide that's totally for noobs (see my sig)... if you can't handle some basic electrical concepts and simple soldering, DIY may be too much.

This place offers some pretty complete led grow light kits in a few sizes. I started out with a 50w kit to experiment with led's. I was pretty happy with the results over a single plant so I upgraded to one of the higher end computer controlled models and have had no regrets. Anyways the kits come with everything you need except tools and go together pretty easily, Most of the soldering is already done and they use 3w led's so they offer pretty good results. The website is http://www.evolutiongrowled.com/ and the led kits are here http://www.evolutiongrowled.com/evolution-led-grow-light-diy-kits-and-parts.html
Not sure what exactly you are looking for, But the kits from evolution grow led are the best overall option i could find back when i bought mine, As far as completeness, cost, and power. Hope this helps, Best of Luck.
