Im in the process of building a 6 site undercurrent system using 18 gl roughneck totes. I ordered a magdrive 700 for the job. Will this pump do the job for a 6 site?

Thanks in advance

Are you going to use a chiller? If so match the pump to the chiller requirements, if not that 700 will give you great circulation.

Thanks for the reply undercurrent. As far as a chiller goes, i do have one thats been sitting in my basement for like 6yrs now. I hope it works.
The chiller is a 1/10 hp that can handle up to 60gl only used for a few month, cuz i had to take down my fish tank. Today im gonna try and find a inline filter. Hey do u think i should have the middle intake line at 3/4" or keep at 1/2" the size that the pump is.

Thanks again

I don't think they make the inline filters in 1/2"
I would go 3/4" with the return line than reduce to 1/2" at the pump, blowe's or home cheepo has the inline filters and the 3/4 slip to 1/2" threaded fitting you'll need.

im finally done with it the system:) the difficult part was sliding the pipe inside the uniseals, everthing else was a breeze.

thanks to undercurrent i was able to follow his thread and use it as a guide to build this system. much props to you sir

Looks good. The only thing I would have done differently is place the pump closer to (what appears to be) the 2" pipe. That run of (what appears to be) 1" will reduce the pump's performance, especially given that it is on the suction side. Although only slightly.

Thanks bro:) its 2" pipe and the intake line is 3/4". The pump is a magdrive 700 which the inlet and outlet are 1/2". I had to reduce from 3/4" to 1/2". The flow is pretty good when i was testing it for any leaks, and water pressure. I do have a chiller for it, but now im second guessing myself for not getting the 900 pump to run the chiller also.

Thats a sick setup man! Ive got this subbed... as for the chiller situation, I would go ahead and get the 900... Do it right from the beginning so you do not kick yourself in the arse later for not getting it.

Hey guys sorry for being a pain in the arse but i got a question. My tap waters ppm is at about 35 to 43 ppm,
And i managed to do well with one of those under the sink water filters from blows doing dwc. Now that uc
System will be taking about 80gl i think, should i consider investing in RO.

Thanks in advance

Im gonna try and call to see if i could send this one back and pay the differance to get the 900.
Thanks for the compliment bro. Did u see undercurrent journal? I used his journal as a instruction manual...lol

If your water is that good , I wouldnt worry about it. You should be good to go in my opinion. Thats a little less than mine and I have no problems.

One thing about the larger pump on 6 site system is your roots will be going into the 2inch pipes. Ive got that issue now. Not that its a big thing but a smaller pump may reduce it some. Im going use some type of screen over my pipes to keep roots contained in the totes on next grow.

thanks for the reply....ill just continue to use my filter. as for the pump, I sent it back today for the 950 magdrive. I have this chiller that I really don't know if it still runs, since its been sitting for 5-6 yrs now.
I would have to reduce it from a 3/4" to 1/2" to run the water threw the chiller.

sink+drain+screen.jpg or Fox-Run-disposal-sink-strainer.jpg

Is along the lines of what I was thinking about doing. If it domed out instead of in, it should help prevent the roots from getting too tangled in the net/screen.

OP, why not keep the pump you have, and run the cooler to/through the reservoir? No matter what, the water will always be moving, it shouldn't matter (I don't think, and have no proof) where the cooling happens.
