tap water contain chlorine, pass it through a reverse osmosis filtration system to eliminate chlorine then add some cal/mag supplement to compensate for lost minerals, this the best water source you can get

Is your tap city or well water? Do you have a tester? Lot's of city water is fine once you get the chlorine out of it. They say New York city's water is some of the best. I think it tastes like shit!

I use plain tap water and feed.. I really guess it depends on the quality of water coming out of the tap.. But i use plain tap water and my nutes just mix and feed and never had any problems unless over nute or under water... But i run mine through and rv water filter like this cause i saw a buddy doin it.. Maybe it helps maybe it doesnt

i fill up my water buckets 24 hours before i intend to use it. the chlorine evaporates. been doing it that way for years. no problems. GL
I do the same thing as Po boy. I also PH my tap water with drops "Down", as our City Water is very "Basic". Don't need to PH the water after adding Nutes, as Nutes are acidic.

I've always used tap water with no problem, but like some said it depends on your area. If you use tap water just let it sit for 24 hours to let the chlorine evaporate. When i put a ppm meter in my tap water I get around 105 ppm, ph sits just below 7.

the amount of times ive popped into a shop and been stuck behind an afghan plant buying there entire water stocks and then dragging it back up a mountain ..........................................................

you cant be that precious about the wet stuff , the plants suck it from the water table after its sucked up all sorts of shit , it drops from the sky taking up all sorts of nastys and then filters to the roots once again bring unknown crap to the root ball , in other words to emulate nature you may as well piss on it

tap .......ok yeah if your ppm is at about 6 thou and you need to run the tap as it doesnt lime up overnight then fair enough but if its ok then simply use it , just check it the once to make sure it good

only thing i would say is buy a water butt and fill that , allow to stand for 24 hrs so the chlorine evaporates away top up with rain water as and when you can as its got nitrates in it the plant likes that

Bad tap water is bad. Good tap water is not. A vague question gets a vague answer.

Your municipality should have water quality data available for public viewing. That's the best and easiest way to figure out what's in yor water.

You can waste your time and money with RO and then put cal/mag back into the water or you can just let the water sit in a open container and let the chlorine evaporate out.

Most municiple water supplies use chloramines, not chlorine because chloramine is more stable, and produces lower levels of THM (trihalomethane) and other unhealthy disinfectant byproducts.

-CHLORAMINE DOES NOT EVAPORATE.

-REVERSE OSMOSIS DOES NOT REMOVE CHLORAMINE EFFECTIVELY.

Letting the water stand also helps to stabalize the temp. Depending on where you live, the water coming out of the tap can be FREEZING and can shock the shit out of your plants.

Therefore it does not matter either way unless you plan on buying bottled water :)

Or buy a Small Boy filter with upgraded KDF85 Catalytic carbon. $120 and you've got yourself chlorine and chloramine free water, without removing the dissolved minerals like Ca and Mg. Problem solved.
