How tall to veg????

Got 6 feet of verticle space, growing in 5 gal dwc with 6 inch net pots. How tall should i let the ladies grow before i throw the ladies into flower?? They are sativa dominant!!!! 12 inches 24 inches????

I have the sun hut which is 3x4x7 and i'm growing in DWC as well 5 gal buckets 6 in pots.. check out my grow i vegged to about 24 inches for the sativa (sour grape) and about 17 inches for the indica (venus og) i pretty much wanted to utilize the height of the grow tent but i believe lighting will be an issue since the taller the plant the less light penetration for the lower budsites.. unless of course you have vertical lighting or supplemental lighting along the sides at the very least. i have an extra 400 w hps i could use which i might i just havent got to it yet.. still pending..

in theory you can cut off the top bud sites that are fully mature and continue to grow the lower bud sites under the hps so they can fully mature this just means you have to hack off bits and pieces off her till shes fully harvested..

Lights? Kinda important under a 400 I'd top or FIM then flip. I technically have 18" window from bulb to canopy bottom 6" or less btwn bulb 12" buds.

sativa dom 1 foot will end up 3 feet so 2 will = 6
= to close to bulb so id say 18 inch to 20 inch

I guess sour diesel isn't sativa enough for ya. Haven't had one over 3' in a long time. I guess I could raise light and increase stem length. A friend sharing strain likes lanky plants gets em 6'+ with exact same light. I still don't know lighting in question hard to answer w/o and temps as well. Current under 24" tall 4.5"-6" from light canopy temp 75.

take the height you have available before it gets too hot under the light, divide by 3

roughly the height you should veg to

i've had to do this before and it works. kind of freaks me out each time but all's been well with each girl.

My closet is 7' I'll top after the 6th or 7th set of branches then flip at 15"-18" with dual 400 watters If was you I wouldn't let'em get past 15" and you wanna top at least a week before flipping the lights you don't wanna top in flowering mode is what I always heard....

I did a scrog with similar space dimensions, with a 600w cooltube. From the bottom of the 5 gal bucket to the top of the plant was 30~ at time of flip to 12/12. I came really close to running out of vertical space. Check my signature for current pictures. Light is practically at the top of the tent now. Indica strain, your stativa will strech a good ammount more. Keep it on the low end and just train the plant around.
