Hello folks! Id like to start off by saying how great it is that there are likeminded Irish men and women here who have gone towards the green thumb direction :D Like many of you i have refused to continue buying mediocre weed in Ireland for such an inflated amount! So here i am starting my own grow after a lot of research and building up courage :) Great to meet you lads and lassies!

So for my first indoor grow ive started with Northern Lights in a hydroponic system. Feel free to drop by and leave a comment!

Slan go foill!!
Good on you man, welcome to the criminal side of life. What type of hydro system did you get? It's brave jumping into hydro on your first grow but once you get the hang of ec and ph you'll be sorted. And you have a few of us hydro heads here :P

lie the 1st

you realize in all your rambling nonsense you havent answered my question, no matter how many times iv simply and politely worded it for you

a respected opinion that you fail to back up with facts, never mind common sense

another lie

maybe some sort of filter could be attached to stop contaminants getting in? pipe dream or hepa filter?

my god......

again a testament to your fine observation skills, look at our join dates.

well since im a kid maybe you should be the bigger man and end this discussion by

1) naming the device/metheod that removes contaminants from the air without babbling

or

2) admit you wrong and have no idea what your talking about ie that without a filter indoor bud has crap/pollen to

if you do one of the above calmly without juvenile insults, lying or stuffing your posts with more nonsense

that would be great
Once again the light is controlling the environment on how much light you plants receive from a bulb not just the sun since you can adjust the wattage, again controlling the environment!

A good setup I mean indoors you should have it nice and buttoned up to control the environment! i.e. light leaks odor leaks, and again controlling the environment!

once again the filter will control odor which is controlling the environment as when growing outside there is no controlling odor.

I was simply saying indoor grows you can, fact, control the environment just as you can in your own house like when its freezing outside you turn on the heater.

And tell me if you grow with seeds how are you going to get pollen from other plants, not mj, grass, tree's etc in an inside grown rm? unless you roll around in it and then rub you arms all over your grow hell you won't even get mj pollen from an outdoor grow in your indoor grow if practice proper hygiene like a doctor scrubbing before they go in to do surgery, are you saying that doesnt help? The patient is still going to get germs from the docs sterilized hands? You can also sterilize your equipment with H2o2 or 70% isopropyl alcohol, I know people that use tweezers, scissors, etc and sterilizing them will keep anything away from your indoor grow.

What I'm saying is what do you not get about an indoor grow being easy to control the environment as to outdoor, oh and air flow I mean air circulation for your plants so they get strong stems and have way less chance at getting mold, you can not control the wind outside. I have been growing for over 3 years now and have never had mold, fungus, bugs, nothing because I can control my environment. If you buy cuts sure you could get something by bringing an outside plant from someone else into your environment.

If you don't get it this time I am done not gonna talk about this anymore you seem to just want to argue and spin what I say. but you can respond and get the last word and I even said I would be happy if you stayed on the thread and helped out or took advice in a positive manner!

And your join date means crap if anything it means your a thread troll, I had been growing for myself for 2 years before I decided to get involved with threads and have friends that have been growing for well over a decade who have mentored me and all but a couple are indoor hydro growers. Look at my posts compared to yours. Also before I even started growing I read a few intensive books about growing so I would have some idea of what I was doing at that time. I don't claim to know everything but what I do know I try and help others out if they wish to ask for help.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! decided to go the hydro direction as a challenge for one and the other reason is the quality and amount of bud that can be produced is great. it isnt that complicated once you read up on it and understand it. Plus if theres any toruble theres a plentiful supply of knowledge on here. Iamaaror using the waterfarm system. drop by my thread and have a look :)

Can't go wrong with the old school NL its a very stable strain, thats why it is used in so many crosses. Glad there is another hydro grower on here, good luck man hope it all works out for the best with ya!

My first grow was hydro RDWC (recirculating deep water culture) but it had to many moving parts and was to messy especially since I was just starting out but I have always had mentors since I live in SF and everyone grows here. I recently upgraded to ebb & flow, I'm running 4 plushberry's by TGA Sucool and 2 elephant stompers by Hazeman Seeds.

IMO hydro is way easier than soil but like I said that is my opinion!

Ya i went for hydro to see if i could manage it and produce quality at the same time. There is a bit of playing around that needs to be done regarding ppm's and ph's but once you get the hang of it and understand its pretty straightforward. I take it you are in the States?

I'm in cali, so yes. Do you have a ppm meter and a ph meter? You want your ph around 5.8 to 5.9 but in reality you can go from 5.5 to 6.5. When your plant is just a seedling you want around 200ppm, full veg 700ppm, full flower 1200 -1400. Liquid kool bloom and dry kool bloom will blow them buds up. once your plant has been in flower for a week hit with some liquid kool bloom and in the last two weeks of flower use the dry kool bloom oh and I always use at least 10% h2o2 my buddy uses 35% but he only puts two drops in the res cause it is so strong.

Hydro really is easy, you don't have to worry about hauling soil around and you plants will grow almost twice as fast as soil with some nice buds as long as you are patient and don't mess with it everyday multiple times a day. I mean I would check the ppms and ph everyother day, and change out your res every week to ten days.

Once again the light is controlling .... how much light you plants receive
yay your starting to learn, im so proud

once again the filter will control odor
two in a row, impressive maybe we could make some progress now

how are you going to get pollen from other plants, not mj, grass, tree's etc in an inside grown rm?
air intake? i think at some point we may have covered this,is this magical pollen/crap filtering device a secret?

And your join date means crap

back tracking again, why did that become a moot point when you found out i was older? are you going to compare us my smiley face posting next?

Look at my posts compared to yours....YOUR ARE NEW TO THIS THREAD
so you looked at my posts and came to the conclusion that iv never poster here before? didnt you at some point think that an older member whos 99% posts are in this thread may have posted before you jointed? not sure at this point if i should still be laughing or have pity for you.

so once again

1)admit your wrong, air going into an indoor grow does contain crap/pollen

2) keep the lols going

once again if you could do it without out the childish name calling, lying and rambling nonsense.

my exact point *
i just have ta let her suffer?
put a dab of vaseline around the base of here nose = my life saver. hepa air purifiers are worth alook too, bit pricey last time i looked. Never tried it myself but acupuncture can working amazing for some people, no problems for month at time.

how is this if all the contaminents and pollen you speak of is inside aswell?

you see your house forms a physical barrier between her and the pollen at high%, its quiet simple you see.

theres a massive thread about hay fever on boards.ie, bookmark it and love it.

Yup ive got a bluelab ppm meter and a ph pen. Ph fluctuates from 5.8 to 6.7 at the moment. Have ordered some ph down so just waiting on that. PPM at the moment is 400ppm which is within the limits. Ive read reviews on that kool bloom and sounds pretty good.

For this grow though im going to keep it simple with Lucas Formula and i may throw in some Advanced Nutrients Big bud powder as i have it lying around from my last grow. Dont want to be messing around with too many nutrients for my first grow :) I may not even use the big bud. just depends on how she reacts when i introduce it to her!

god you just don't get it and you cannot have an intelligent conversation when the other person is unwilling to understand what the other is saying, i never said there is a magical pollen/crap device. my entire point is that with an inside grow you can control your environment, pick a book up about indoor growing read it and then you will know what I am saying. why are you on this thread anyway? You are far from positive and contribute nothing. You're not older than me I can assure that, im in my late 30's and I doubt you are by your behavior on this thread. I have no air going into my indoor grow it is sealed shut until I open it and it is in a sterile environment!

I can't find any proof of you being on this thread before 2013 and I like that you only have 4 likes as to my 278 likes.

I don't call you names or am I lying, the proof is in the pudding, and rambling nonsense? I have never rambled any nonsense when replying to your ridiculous posts.

This link should set you straight!

I agree, stick with the lucas method for your first run, you won't be disappointed I promise that.

of course ya can clean the air in your house, theres loadsa air purifiers and air filters on the market.you must keep cats and dogs and whatnot in your house if its that contaminated.
problem solved for every hayfever sufferer out there, stick a bit of vaseline under your nose.
mdjenks point is theres noting ya can do about all that shit gettin on your plants doin a outside grow, but theres plenty ya can do ta prevent or control it when growin inside...simple.

Hi all,

Last time I grew I used a non-digital soil ph meter but now I've ordered a digital one that will check the run off,it comes with enough calibration fluid to set it and I have ordered more but from what I understand the solution can only be used once and from some of what I've been reading it is possible I may need to calibrate the meter on a regular enough basis.
It's gonna be a pain in the stones if I have to use fresh stuff each time cos I know I'm guaranteed at least once not to have it when I need it so is it possible to store the liquid in a sterile glass container for re-use?
