I paint liquid fire retardant on all rooms and areas where I grow.
About R55 ($5.50) for 5L of the stuff.

ASTME-84 A&B? how's the reflectivity if directly on the walls which may be (am not sure, depending on your setup) reflecting light?

this is exactly what i believe also, but what an idiot, who sets themselves upto get bashed, hes clearly a lyer and a bad one at that if he thinks we believ thats 2 weeks of flower on 100 dollar bill, mine is cheap 1000, my plants are 2 weeks into flower under a 60 hps, can anyone see the difference, oh ya plus mine are hydro, growing faster than soil, and mine are right on schedule, just showed white hairs yesterday

Original poster wanted to be a dickbag and start some shit, posting things that aren't even his own or providing any proof that he even has a 100 dollar grow room (after talking shit about it in other threads over the last week) - that said, it's not that the concept of a 100 dollar grow room can't work (for some people), it's just that I feel the same as quite a few others, he's trolling hard and is getting pounded for doing so.

What did you use the smoke detector for?

Somewhat eased my mind about having 400 watt's of CFL cooking in a cardboard box with posterboard reflectors.. Heh..


I've ALWAYS ran smoke detectors close to the lights in every indoor grow I've ever done.... It provides yet another safeguard.

I paint the walls and the back of the mylar, not the front of the mylar.
I paint the walls with white PVA/acrylic PVA (so that I can see dirt) then give that a double layer of fire retardant (the stuff is water soluble and looks like water, leaves no visible stains or residue), only then do I mount the Mylar (with the side closest to the wall painted in retardant).
After that I paint anything in the room that may be flammable and dip cables and such in it (obviously not the live bits).
Normal wood gets a layer of retardant, layer of PVA and another layer of retardant.

Keep in mind, in South Africa we build with bricks and concrete.

Gave me an idea when you asked that..

12v wired smoke detector would go great inside of a solid teak wood grow cabinet.. so if there's fire, it's noticed before the whole cabinet (which is a very solid hardwood) decides to start taking the whole house down with it.. especially since most teak cabinets have a varnish (also flammable)

Great plan, wasn't sure if perhaps you'd done reflective testing and the coating may work like a super flat white for 90%+ reflectivity. I may have to do light reflectivity tests on those.

I'm a cheap bastard, possibly one of the cheapest you can find. I got my 400w off craigslist for $60, another $20 in pots and soil, and another $20 in nutes(cheapest water soluable nutes that contain micros) Cheap ass light timer from harbor freight was like $5, that one broke so I had to get another one. An extension cord, and a space blanket from walmart $12.
Then like $500 in pg&e. Sweet
even being the cheapest asshole on the planet, I still spent over $100, and I can pinch a penny or two.. The quality of the buds, TOTALLY worth every penny I didn't save(by switching to geico)
