Introducing the Rocky Mountain Martini

Hey all,

A couple months ago, I made a couple ounces of tincture with some Light of Jah (sativa, Jack Herer X something, I think), and let it mature...until tonight!

The darker picture is the tincture and the other is my martini (Tanqueray, of course). Potency's right, but still working on the flavor. In any event, the wife downed her's, then crashed. I'm feeling pretty good myself. Stay tuned for the progress, as I've got a couple other things brewing.

Effective and potent, let me tell you. The effect of the Light of Jah (silliness and a nice relaxed body) could be felt Perry well about half way into the martini, and by the end of it, I was gone. The taste could have been better, but after the first couple sips, the rawness was gone.

I'll definitely make them again, but my next experiment is Rocky Mountain Iced Tea (I'm thinking along the lines if a Long Island, but adding a shot of purple diesel tincture to the mix.

Flavor? What did you use as your solvent?

The solution on this one was just straight everclear, which is why the taste was a bit off. In the past, I've amended it a bit during maturation, and it's had a better (i.e., slightly less seal-your-throat-shut) taste. The tincture is too rough on its own, though, so I'm working on dialing it into Tanqueray, which the herb taste blends with well.

No offense but I have made everclear green dragon and if yours tastes half as bad as mine did...

I have read of taking the weed and soaking it in distilled water then gently draining off the water and letting it dry before you make the green dragon, to remove the chlorophyll etc.

This I'll look into! I've figured out how to extract the anthocyanin from purple strains, but, mixed with the green from the chlorophyll, you're left with...brown. Not as interesting as I was hoping for (given that I'm in Colorado, a huge Rockies fan, and baseball season's here, I had dreams of a fancy purple drink in my hand). The taste isn't bad at all, though, as the extraction seems to mellow it out some. Anyhoo, I planned to look into a way to remove (some of) the chlorophyll without damaging the end product, and that might be right up my alley!
