Begginer Looking for Help

Hey Guys so Im new to indoor growing other then some minor stuff that i helped my friends do. I need some help on some initial start up tips that would go a long way for me, thanks so much in advance.. First off I want to let you know I have bought a 1000 Watt Ballast and a 21"x21" Air-Cooled Reflector the link for the set up i bought: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/271044675175?var=570109854631&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 is the link for the one i bought... I have a 1000 watt HPS Bulb and a 1000 Watt MH Bulb, I also have of course a charcoal filter yada yada yada... Now that you know my set up I will list some of the things i need to know...

1. How big of an area (in feet) will my light set up be able to cover in a room.
2. How many plants can i successfully grow under my light set up. (6? 12? 24? keeping in mind i want the most yield possible of course)
3. How far apart should my plants be from one another.
4. Can I use an Air-Cooled Reflector with out the Air-Cooled part? (by this i mean just use it like a regular umbrella reflector and forget the air cooling holes)
5. How big of a grow tent (in feet) would you recommend i buy for my light set up? (keeping in mind i want to grow as many plants as possible with the most yield)

1. 4x4 - With a hood that size I'd shoot for keeping it 18" above canopy.
2. As many as you want to fit! More plants = less veg time. I run 4 plants in 10 gallon pots and veg them until 20-22"
3. Keep them as close as possible without leaving the 4x4 footprint or having them growing into each other. (remember to account for doubling or tripling in size during flowering!)
4. Yes, some people would say take the glass off though!
5. 4x4 should be sufficient. (keep in mind that the size of your light determines yield, not the number of plants!)

i run 2 1000's and 1 400 all in air cooled reflectors and under each 1000 i fit 9 plants in 5 gallon pails. i veg to 2' so i'm harvsting anywhere from 4-5'.
if i had only one 1000 i would probably only get 6-7 under it, to fit more secondary lighting is a must.

I have done a lot of research and have some friends that I could call pros. The rule of thumb I got when it comes to lighting and how many plants. I was told for every 100 watts = 1 plant so 1000 watts = 10 plants. But you do have to make sure that there is enough room and that when the plants are bigger they are still getting enough light all the way to the bottom; I would also suggest for what you are looking for is looking into the SOG (Sea Of Green) method it might be perfect for you.

Okay thanks all, Umm i guess now i have a few more questions....

1. how tall should the space be
2. When putting my charcoal filter on do i want it before or after the light? (See picture for what i think it is, tell me if its right)

You will want to have your fan sucking air through filter and then through light and out of area.Mount your filter as high as you can.Heat rises.Most filters are not designed to have air pushed through.So as for your pic,put fan on other side of light.

I like this, but leave the glass on, especially in a tent.

You could grow one plant and yield close to what you would if you grew 10 plants.It is preference.
Personally I think more plants equals more popcorn buds.

I like scrog, but that is totally a preference deal.

Remember, there are a lot of well meaning people that give terrible advice about growing. Take everything with a grain of salt.

Don't fall into this trap: "This guy is killing it, if I copy him I will do the same."

how can the one plant do the same ammount in yield as 10? i dont get it, so if i had 10 lights on one plant it would do the same as 10 lights on 10 plants? im really confused now, i always thought the more plants the more yield as long as you have sufficient lighting, they say 100 watts per plant well i have 1000 watts wouldent that be suficient for 10 plants? and if i put the light in the air cooled reflector with out the air cooling ducts with the glass on wouldent that over heat inside the glass and blow up or cause it to not work?

please help i bought some big bang seeds and i was thinking of doing 6 under my light set up in about a 5x5 make shift tent.
