2nd Grow: PC & Cabinet combo

I got my cabinet today and got it put together! Now I just need to modify it to suit my needs. It's a little more than 28" wide on the inside. There is two seperate compartments. The top shelf is slightly more than 15" tall, while the main compartment is over 52" tall.

I'll use the top shelf to store all my nutes and additives. And the lower compartment is where Gwen (Super Lemon Haze) is going to go down the road here soon. Kara (Auto Sweet Mango) is going to stay in the PC case.

As far as modifications go: The cabinet is already white, so I don't have to worry about painting it, or hanging panda film or mylar or anything like that. I'm going to seal the seams around the door, that seems to be the only place light leaks in at the moment. I'm not sure if I'll just use some caulk, or what other options I may have. I plan on getting an OdorSok carbon filter and an extraction fan to deal with the smell. I'm not sure where I will put some intake fans...along the bottom somewhere is probably best right? I have 5x 105w CFLs (that's actual wattage, not incandescent equivalent) although I haven't figured out how I'm going to mount them yet. One option will be to mount power strips along the top and sides, similar to how I did in the PC case I guess. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions for how to affix the lights? I'm open to suggestions.

Hit some more snags, but I think I'll be good from here on out. I think the CocoNOT stuff is horrible. It's substitute coco coir that I got from the local hydro store cause they were out of coco bricks. So i use it with perlite in starter cups. Then I went out and got some bricks from another store. The first set of leaves grew dark spots, that turned brown, then basically killed all the first leafs :(

I transplanted both into some new coco/perlite and new growth seems to be fine. The SLH is in a 2 gallon Smartpot for about a week now, so it's starting to grow again, and new growth seems unaffected. The ASM was just transplanted today, and i damaged some of her roots during the transplant so I hope she pulls through. Both plants had great roots, thanks to some weak Roots Excelurator. I also fed a tiny bit more RE after the transplant to help with that hopefully. I also have fed the first time with a very weak nutrient 1/8th strength to help stimulate new growth since the cotelydon were starting to get yellow.

So just in the wait and see part, see if they pull through and don't show any more signs of whatever it is that has affected them...

I think I found the culprit. A cold mist humidifier I had in the room, due to another unrelated issue, seems to have been the source of my problem. The humidifier was leaving a white coating on almost everything in the room. I noticed the build up on the intake fans but hadn't paid much attention. Now that I have removed the humidifier from the room, my plants have responded favorably. Perhaps I'm just being optimistic, but I think it was adversely affecting the young leaves. Time will tell for sure...

do not know how handy you are and what you have available but this is what i did.
feel free to as question this setup is capable of roughly 20 23w bulbs. i have about $80-$100 in this light setup.
sorta wish i went with hid setup but is a small space 2x2x4.

Nice looking setups. Looks like you get a nice even coverage with that.

When it comes to flower time I'll be setup by then. And I went with the less is more approach. I have 5x 105w CFLs for flowering. That's CFL wattage, not the "equivalent", so there's alot of lumens going to be packed into the cabinet. I figure 2 or 3 at the top and a couple on the sides should do nicely. Until then 2-3x 23w CFLs are vegging just fine.

The ladies are doing well! Removing the humidifier has been very positive on their growth. I've been feeding them weak nutrients still, but have responded well to everything I have given them. I am feeding them with House & Garden's line of Cocos and additives. So far I've used the Roots Excelurator, Amino Treatment, and MultiZen additives. (I got all of them as freebie samples from the company themselves)

The autoflower is already showing pistils, so the clock is ticking. I am LST'g her as she will stay in the PC case for the remainder of her life. Which is only 7 weeks of flowering.

I swapped one of the bulbs out for a 42w 2700K bulb since Gwen, (ASM), is technically flowering. So at the moment I am running 1x 42w 2700k, and 2x 23w 5000k bulbs.

The SLH is doing well now. She was stunted the worst with the humidifier, and some early nute burn I think, but new growth has been good for a while now. I need to get her transplanted to her new home soon, hopefully this week.

I am thinking about trying to top or FIM the SLH, but am hesitant to do so since she's struggled alot early on. Any thoughts on that?

Pics of how the ladies look to follow :blsmoke:

I hope everyone had a smokey 4/20! I was sick as fuck so bleh :P

The girls are coming along nicely. The Auto Sweet Mango (Gwen) is about 1/2 way thru her flowering cycle...she's got about a month or so left it looks like. Virtually no smell so far, but she's pretty small too. I didn't train her right (I got lazy) to maximize the yield for the space, so there's just the one main cola really. She will still serve her purpose and tide me over until her sister does her thing.

The Super Lemon Haze (Kara) is still vegging away. It's about time to switch her over to 12/12, but I want to have her cabinet's odor control in place before I start her flowering. I should have that wrapped up in the next week or two...waiting on filter and fan to arrive. I'll post a mini update once the cabinet is finished.

Here's a few pics of the ladies:

Cabinet is starting to take form now. I've installed 3x 120mm intake fans along the bottom. I've started the 12/12 cycle as well. So I switched over to my 105w CFL monsters. I'm only using 2 right now with 10.5" reflectors...3 was running too hot for now (91ish at the top of the canopy). I have my 4" exhaust fan, but am waiting for the carbon filter to come in, will be a couple weeks before that comes in. Hopefully odor won't be an issue before then...I should've ordered it sooner.

Plan is to seal the top shelf from the main chamber and mount the exhaust fan up there. Then duct the exhaust into something I can hide in a plastic bin or something on top for stealth. I still need to seal up the seams to take care of the light leaks coming out, I will be doing that this week hopefully.

The girls are coming along nicely still. The Auto Sweet Mango is starting to fatten up a bit now. I've been using House & Garden's nutrients and supplements. I think she's got about 3 weeks left, so hopefully she'll put on a good amount of weight during this home stretch. :)

The Super Lemon Haze had its first pistils the other day, so she's starting her flowering cycle. I can start to see the bud sites forming...I can't wait to see this one grow and flower! This weekend I think I'm going to install the exhaust fan. It's a 4" 265CFM fan. The filter won't be in for 2 weeks, but it's an 8" carbon filter.

Here's a couple pics:

Time for another update. The ladies are cruising along nicely! I'm impressed with the results I'm getting using House & Garden's line of nutrients and additives! That free sample pack they sent me has served its purpose, I'll be a loyal customer moving forward.

Gwen, the Auto Sweet Mango, is nearing the end. I guesstimate she has 2 weeks left till it's time to chop her down. Her main cola is starting to get dense and heavy, and the other buds are starting to fill up now. Looks like I'll end up with the main cola, and about 6-7 more decent sized buds on a stalk ;) I can't wait to taste her after she's cut and cured.

Kara, the Super Lemon Haze, is starting to kick into flower production. I can see all the budsites that will form and am anxious to see how she fills in! I want to see how dense the buds are with the massive 105w CFLs I'm using. Once the carbon filter comes in and I get the exhaust all hooked up, I will probably add another light or more if the temperatures allow.

Onto the pics!

Time for another update!

Things are cruising along pretty well! The Auto Sweet Mango is sooo close to being finished. She's really starting to swell up now. I went ahead and flushed her tonight to start getting ready for the final leg. If I were hard up for some smoke, I'd be plucking something off by now, lol. I peeked at her trichs and they look to be most, if not all milky, so I know I'm in the home stretch. I also noticed alot of the heads being heavy enough to cause the mini stalks to bend over, I hear that's a good sign. If I'm not mistaken I think I see a lil purple tint in some of the calyxes on the main cola, or maybe that's wishful thinking. I figure she should be ready to chop by this time next week. The only way I'd do that early is if I start to see too many amber trichs.

The Super Lemon Haze is really taking off! I can't believe how many crystals I'm seeing on her already after only 3+ weeks of 12/12. The top has had some problems with heat but I'm still trying to figure out the optimum setup for my cabinet, it's a constant tinkering thing :) My filter came in today, so maybe over this weekend I should work on getting the exhaust system in place. It's a 8"x4" Phat filter and a 265CFM fan.

Onto the pics!

Sorry no pics for this update, yet. :weed:

The SLH is doing great! I can not believe how many trichromes are already on her this early into flowering!

I chopped down Gwen (the ASM) I trimmed the big sun leaves off, and cut the whole plant at the base of the stalk. I wanted to try the whole plant drying method. I'll post pics and weight once drying finishes!

In the last couple of days I germinated and planted my last Auto...I figure it might finish before the SLH, or around that time. It's a feminized DinaFem White Widow.

Harvest time! Ahh the glorious day has finally come. :D

I chopped down the ASM on Monday the 27th. I cut at the base of the stalk, and only trimmed the big sun leaves. She has dried for the past three days. The outside was dry enough to handle tonight, so I went ahead and did the final manicure and put it in a jar. As you can see in the pic, the manicured weight is 59.3g! I know it's not totally dry yet, so the weight is still on the heavy side, even with more weight loss, I'm happy with the quick bang for the buck from the Auto Sweet Mango. I'm expecting another 20% loss in weight when it finally dries. I can't wait till the buds have had time to cure, then I will give a smoke report too!

And wow...the Super Lemon Haze is living up to it's reputation so far! She's only 3 weeks since the first pistils popped and look how frosty she's getting already! I can't wait to see how she fills in and fattens up over the next 9 weeks!

And my Dinafem Auto White Widow has popped, so we'll see if I can get a better LST out of this one! Seems like this should finish around the same time as the SLH if things go right.

Here's the pics!

Small update:

Sweet Mango is still drying/curing... nice mild smoke from what I've had so far, can't wait till it's proper though..

Super Lemon Haze is doing her thing. Her buds getting bigger and frostier every day. I can't help myself and I have to give her a squeeze when I see her and get a fresh wave of her lemony scent!

The White Widow seedling died. One of the case fans fell over (directly on top of it to boot) for at least a day...so she didn't make it, lol.

I think the next shortest flowering time I have left in my stash is Positronics' Blue Rhino (fem) so I'll prolly pop it next.
