The nutes in MG are time released and are triggered when you water. This is my Theory and I'm pretty sure others would agree: Use a bigger pot and more soil so you don't have to water as much. My first time around, I used 3 gallon Smart Pots. Second and third time, I used 5 gallon Smart Pots. I noticed my watering would last just a little longer, which resulted in less nutrient release. The extra soil is also a benefit so the roots have more room to grow, giving the plant better health and longevity.
I don't think the extra nitrogen during the early stages of flowering matters. Your plant should double or triple in size during this stage, so plenty of nitrogen is needed during this phase. This grow, I vegged for 26 days with absolutely no problems after going to 12/12. I also veg with 18/6, and not like others who might go with a longer lighting schedule.
