If you do some reading at
Newbie Central you will be on your way and allow us to answer questions other then how do I get started.
Not trying to be mean but folks here enjoying helping folks more through issues they are encountering along the way. I guess what I am saying is the basics have been answered and posted. There are many great references to get started, rather you want to play it safe with soil which is more lenient to newbies and the mistakes made in first time grows. Or you test your beginning skills with a more time consuming and complicated growing method in hydro (IMHO) HotRodHarley will might not think so but he was born in the water at one of them natural birthing things way back before it was cool. So he is pro water even for rookies. He thinks everyone has a dorsal fin on them somewhere.
After you've you gone to Newbie Central to study and study some more and then write your grow plan submit it for review before you go out and spend alot of money and time and get disappointed. Remember everything starts with good genes. So you'll want to know what kind of girl you want before you start.
There are primarily three things in excess most newbies will kill their plants with: Nutrients, Water and Heat\Light.
If you decide to go soil and you should review my grown journal discussion for a self feeding self watering system using soil.
