Why do people bitch about helping newbies??

One tiny example, just the other day a noob said "the only way you can use beneficial bacteria in hydro is if you make a tea"..............like holy fucking shit that's as wrong as it gets.

Life is very nuanced once you look around... tea can be great in an indoor grow.... If only applied to leaves through a sprayer.... very few insects likes to have anything to do with such a plant.

So there is no ultimate thruth.

Don't sweat it so much, part of becoming a master at something is to go from asking questions to answering questions and then next on to a position of only checking that those who are now at the answering stage are doing a fair job of it. And so it goes on and on, permanent change and turn of the wheel and going back to old positions like asking new questions.... Just enjoy it and try to be kind.

Here's an old fart story for you. When I first started out in the business world, information was not as easy to come by as it is today. I'll always remember going to my first boss and mentor and asking him a question. He'd pause what he was doing, set down his pen with a resigned deliberate movement, look over the top of his glasses like he was examining a failed lab experiment and invariably say either of two things. His favorite was "Where have you already looked for the answer?" and if he was feeling really generous he would say "When you looked (fill in the proper reference), what did you find?" Well, at these times I always thought he was a real asshole. I knew this old SOB had the exact answer in his head. Why wouldn't he just tell me? It wasn't until years later (with age comes wisdom), I realized his purpose. Do I remember the people in my life who told me to "go read a book"? Nope. Do I remember those who taught me to think? Yep. So folks, point them in the right direction and teach them to think. Or say nothing.

We I thought that is what this was fo asking for help or advice sharing ideas and experiences. So if you don't want to help some one or give advice the DON'T . But don't waste your time reading the post AND REPLYING " go read a book" instead of just answering the question. People have to start somewhere. And sometimes reading it in a book and doing or seeing it for yourself could be challenging. And Once again I THOUGHT THAT IS WHAT A FOURM WAS FOR. DON'T READ THREADS YOU DON'T WANT TO ANSWER !! Instead of being rude maybe give people some advice help or encouragement. Don't waste your time writing stuff like "we can't grow your plants for you" or "go read a book". I have seen more of that than people just answering?????

When I first started to use this board I had never used anything like it before. I didn't know how to look up things from past posts and just reading everything was over whelming. Maybe you don't know how to look for some answer your looking for. If ya stay around you will find help and friend ship as well.

There are some that are just so lazy, they post a basic simple question without even bothering to look around for 5 minutes to see if somebody might have asked that yesterday.

When I first got into growing I found this site. I didn't even register for about a month or two. I was able to find just about everything I was looking for by reading page after page. I am not going to lie, I went to some other sites to find info but I found most of it here. I only created an account because the community seemed pretty cool and I wanted to be apart of it.

Just read, read, read. If you can't figure out the basics from just reading, you probably shouldn't be growing.

Agreed on this one, read.. try it out, burn a plant w/nutes... read more, kill a plant, read more, rinse/repeat until you've refined your processes and get a decent amount of hands-on experience.. it will take you quite far.

nobody bitches about helping newbies. they bitch about the same questions being asked over and over that have been answered and discussed to death thousands of times, often in stickied threads that no one should have any trouble finding. they bitch about giving legitimate answers and having people complain because it's not what they wanted to hear. they bitch about people asking questions that demonstrate they haven't done the slightest bit of reading on the subject beforehand. they bitch because some people expect internet strangers to completely run their grow and anything less is "newbie bashing".

it gets to be a headache. it's like asking how to do algebra without knowing how to count. what you're REALLY asking is "will you do this for me? i can't be bothered."

Personally I think noobs should only be allowed to post in the noob section for at least 90 days or until they have read 100 threads. I lurked around for at least a month before I posted anything here. It's a give and take here, don't just show up and expect everyone to bend over backwards because you can't read a nutrient chart.

Think about why Rollitup would allow these same threads to be posted over and over again. I believe it is a course of action purposely designed to keep us down. Like having your entertainment at a 5th grade level, it either keeps you stupid or drives you away where you can't do any good. FDD had tens of thousands of posts and he ended up in jail.
