600w Digital Greenhouse Smell

I have a 600w HTG digital greenhouse electronic ballast.

It's a year old. I have had about 2-3 grows with it never really using the MH conversion.

I get this smell when it starts up from the bulb/socket area. The smell from the back of a pc. Like hot heat kinda.

I had an old bulb do this and a new bulb. I put it in my tent and the smell comes from that area. I let it run for awhile thinking the bulb would just need to warm up. And the smell continued, I could smell it in the other room. The smell makes me feel nauseous and gives me a headache.

The weird thing is when you turn it off, I get an ozone smell. Smells like fresh cut grass. It's weird...
Brought it to HTG they said there are no gases and that it's all electronic like a computer. They hooked up my MH bulb and my ballast to their own socket and the smell was not produced.

My question is what could be the issue?

Could the socket be arcing? They say something has be to be wrong with the set up for them to warranty it. But I can't use this set up because it makes me feel like crap. Since my meds are in the tent in my room.

Any ideas?

It sounds like it must be the socket. That part probably isn't even waranteed. I used to have one of those and didn't like it. I was lucky to unload it on somebody else. I think you should start thinking about getting a better quality ballast.

Yeah they said if nothing is wrong with the ballast then they can't replace it. I do hear a weird little noise from it. Real faint but other than that it fires bulbs.

Yeah I want to get a better set up but my babies are stuck with no light at the moment and I am gun shy to turn this thing on...

Any idea what the headache inducing smell could be?

Is the voltage arcing? Or getting sent back to the ballast. I get more of a smell right after it turns off.
