Yeah, I've never done the 24-48 hour 1st night thing, but have herd of growers doing it at the end of the flowering phase though. Like you know, leave them in the dark for say 24 to 48 hours then harvest them. I don't know the reasoning for that either! Does anyone else know why this is done?? And do you do it??
Peppers are looking good bro. that reminds me!! I gotta go ahead & start mine, and a few other things, tomato's,cucumbers, onions, herb's for the wife, etc'!! Its getting close to time for the gardening isn't it bro!? Can't wait!! I love grow veggies also.. ;)

Here ya go Nija.. Here's the China Yunan. She has been super slow!! But it may be because I haven't hit her yet with an higher ppm's feed(veg food). I believe I am going to increase the ppm's today & start her off slow on it. Well her & the Bluedream. The Royal Queen Criticals LOVE nutes! The one I took these clones from is flowering now, and man o man she smells so good!! She would remind you off some sort of "candy" or something!! Seriously!! Smells super good!! ;) So does the Northern Lights. Has a kinda fruity smell aswell as the Peyote Purple, the Peyote smells alittle earthy too.. there all doing really well, I went ahead & started flowering the Skunk# 1's & Purple Voodoo's, this is there 2nd night in the 12/12, along with Belladonna. ;) Well here's a few pictures for everyone to check out & let me know what you think.. Thanks guys.. Your friend, Dank.

The ideas behind the dark periods are for 2 different reasons. The idea behind the period at the beginning is to "jump start" flowering by allowing more of the hormone to build up in the plant. These plants use a hormone which is developed during the dark period to flower, and light from my understanding breaks this hormone down, so allowing the extra dark time is supposed to increase the levels. The dark period at the end is to increase THC, I think its Kite high who said he did some testing a few years ago on this. I believe it was found that 72 hours of dark at the end was the maximum benefit. More didn't increase the levels farther and less still was a benefit but not the maximum. I believe it was a max benefit of about 30% increase and the least benefit found was like 9%. Basically THC is also broken down by light, and so leaving the lights off the last few days encourages the plants to finish growing and maximize production before they die, and allows the THC to build up with out degradation. Thats my jist of the 2 techniques. I've never tried a full 72 hours dark, but I've done about 36 before. Personally I don't think the differences would be noticeable with anything other then an actual test. I've also left the lights out at the beginning before if things allowed for it, again not really sure if it made any difference.

damn TCat you have a great memory as that is exactly accurate!! IME you can feel the diff in 72 hours vs none....

Yunnan may seem slow but sure is growing perfectly

That russian post is spam...I reported it

Cool deal on the extra dark period. Hell I may try that!! I wonder since its already day 2 of the flowering for the Skunk#1's & Purple Voodoo's if its to late to do the extra period here at the start? Or would you just wait till the next girls are up to flower?

I know one thing 4 sure though. The Royal Queen Critical & Tropa Canna Orange are doing super good! The RQC is flowering really fast, while the TCO is kinda slow. The TCO its buds are slowly working there way up there stems. I just love to watch them wrap around the stems from node to node.. Oh and I tool a pic of the baby Blue OG. ;)
She is pretty!!!

I'm planning on trying the 72 hours when I get the chance, I'd love to feel the difference for sure! Usually with my perpetual setup, and using the flood tables it is tough to get a side by side comparison.

dank as speaking of the 72 hours dark prior to chop...the longer dark period to start is IMO not needed...just begin with 11/13 if mostly sativa otherwise 12/12 is fine

Cool deal bro. Yeah I had herd other growers talk about it, I guess I will try the 72 at the end of the flower phase. Yeah, that's the hours I flower on bro, is the 12/12. Have been on those hours for ahwile now. That's the other part of why I moved indoors when I did, was the having to wait for your babies to flower!! This way I can have my cake & eat my pie to!! Haha  I can already have my smoke off my quick flowering Indica's & Kush strains, and be alright waiting on my girls outdoors to flower. I use to hate waiting to smoke only growing outdoors!!

Ps. I was getting ready to post a comment before I seen your post. I was going to tell everyone that I was getting ready to start another strain. Has anyone herd of Alaskan Thunderfu*k? I'm sure you have. Lol. If you've been growing for awhile. Well I had a bean left & feel like nows the time to go ahead & start her. I was wanting to post some information on the strain incase you hadn't herd of the strain, or if you have to refresh your memory. ;) History of the Thunder.

Story: Originally called “Matanuska Valley Thunder Fuck”, this strain became popular back in the mid 1970′s when High Times magazine did a story on the strain following the court decision that essentially legalized marijuana possession in Alaska. Shortening the name to the more friendly Matanuska Thunder Fuck, the strain eventually became known as Alaskan Thunderfuck by the non-native speakers who heard tale and traveledto Alaskato experienceitforthemselves. Originally a much more Sativa-dominant plant, it had more Afghani bred in for heartiness. The original clones went underground following DEA raids in the 1980′s, at times being protected by the Hell’s Angels.

Flowering Time: Normally in the 70 days area, but some can go over 100 days in certain conditions..

Sativa-dominant hybrid, unconfirmed lineage from the Matanuska Valley of Alaska

Here is also a few pictures of Alaska for you guys..
