So, as most of you know that have been following along, I've been trying to get as much experience under my belt in as little of time possible, so I've been experimenting all throughout my first and second operations, with MANY different experiments!
I've been experimenting so much the first time around so that I observe closely how the plants grow when you manipulate them, and so that I could develop a
STELLAR soil mix, that would get us all thru from start to finish using water only, as well as the weekly AACT.
While I feel like I've honed in on a really good soil mix(which I've posted in my soil thread),
I know I can always do better!
With that said I'll still be tweaking little by little with time, but
the mix that I've created for my second run has taken them all the way down to their last 2-3w before harvest without any yellow!
Last night with about 3 weeks remaining approx.(maybe less), I noticed some yellowing in the oldest fan leaves of my bagseed and snapped some pics.
This has proven on of my theory true tho, which I've read about and observed, which is the fact that the plants take from the living soil what they need and only that.
With that said there's no need to flush. Ever...It'd be counterproductive with a living soil. And there's no need to buy any bottled nutes. Just water your plants in the soil mix and they'll be green from start to end!!!
Anyhow, I'm working on recycling the soil I use, as I've learned that the soil only gets better with time. My soil thread(down in the sig) got sticked over in Organics, so rather than posting it in a new thread, I'll just post it there tomorrow in detail.
All I've got to do is mix in the powdered amendments(ready to be mixed in) and ewcs(gotta get em tomo)!
Not gonna add anymore perlite to the soil this time around either! At least I don't plant to. Gonna watch how it drains over a 3 day period before I decide what to do! Gonna water it down with a nice compost starter AACT, then let it sit for a month, turning it like once or twice a week!!
It consists of:
1 gallon dechlorinated H20
1/4 cup Ancient Forest Compost
1 teaspoon Kelp Meal
1/2 teaspoon Neptune's Harvest
2 teaspoons Unsulphured Molasses
Anyways, enough babbling! Pics!
Much Improved, but still incomplete, recycled soil mix! Got this full tupperware bin of soil off of three rootballs! I'm never buying soil again!
First signs of senescencse(end of life yellowing) with only about 2-3 weeks max remaining! The soil is nutrient rich, so it's evident that the plants are turning on themselves!
Some visible microbe action in the AACTs
Oh yeahh, I also went ahead and mixed in 11 teaspoons of mycos to the soil!
Lol & I turn my soil with that shelf hinge haha
