Michigan has millions of beautiful places to see , from its coast lines to its hidden caves and more .. Might as well spend some time exploring its finest aspect , Northern Michigan and the U.P. .. The lower is ok but its overdeveloped and nothing like up here ..

Perhaps go from Traverse City to Charlevoix and then on up the coast along the old scenic route in Harbor Springs, you can go from there to the Mackinaw Bridge .. I wont even begin about where to go once across , but the Islands are fun ..

Thanks man. I am going to take rt31 right into rt119 and go all the way up. I going to make a week or two of it. I know once I get settled in I
won't get a chance to travel around as much.

Slumdog if you are going on US 31 in Manistee you will see The Little River Casino at US 31 and M-22. Really take M-22 North, California coastline aint got shit on Michigans coastline. :o

Halstead Road between Maple and 14 Mile Rd. is a "scenic route" according to the signs...
Dirt road with not too many discarded garbage bags and diapers.
Serious - they have signs up there because of the Blue Heron rookeries I suppose.

You live in A2 - go to the Arboretum. It's a nice walk.

M-22 north, I am on it. I will hopefully find a good map once I am up there. Relying on google maps will have me in the lake.

I picked up a drunk girl my first night out, that has to be a good
omen. I willing to look past the fact she was throwing up for 20
minutes afterward. The most important thing is I had fun! Time
to stink this room out and get on the road. Thanks for everyone's
help, I probably would have sat around the hotel for a week
without everyone's input.

SIT AROUND HOTEL FOR A WEEK?!-

just make sure the raod you are on is as close to water as possible. stop often, and talk to locals. little stores with restaurants are the best. the perch and suckers will be running in the rivers soon, and there will be guys fishing in every ditch from ohio to the straits.

personally, i like the east side of the state better. no "shops", but lots of far out nature and hill billy's. start in pinconning, and take the 23 north to the bridge. tawas, mio, oscoda, sand lake, long lake, grand lake, alpena, rogers city. man you cant go wrong. lots of shipwreck museums and light houses. the calcite quarry up that way is the largest open pit in the world, and is like 300 feet below the level of lake huron, and goes right out into the lake. omer is a big party this time of year.

either way, stick to the lake front.

if it's warm-

don't sleep in the car. get a tent. michigan chicks love tents.:)
In the 90's I went camping with a girl and we ended up making a lot of noise. I was a little worried because I knew everyone at the campground could hear, but I was getting some pussy, so at the same time I really didn't care. We got done and a minute later we heard some other couple going at it. At least someone liked hearing me tear that shit up.

Same shit has been happening to me like 10 times per summer for the last 17 years or so.......... lots of laughs! Something about psychedelics and tents. No one has ever complained, although we had a cheering section try tipping over our van while were in it.

Do it loud, do it proud!
