T8 or cfl

Well what are you planning on doing with them?. They will work nice for clones, seedlings and early veg but will not be much use in flowering unless you add about about another 6-8 T8 bulbs. CFL and T5 are much better bulbs. LED I am not convinced on yet. My father in law uses LED and he cant get his yields up and he keeps wondering why. That and the cost for LED still needs to come down.

well as of now i did plan on floweing with them....i have 4ft 6 bulb 32wat 6500k 1 68 watt 27k 2 42 watt 27k and 4 23 watt 5k...but for now all i have running is th T8 a 68 watt and the 2 42 watt for 6 plants.....wat uthink good enought??

i was going to get a 4ft 4 bulb T5 But the guy said the t8 putts out the same lumen and they were sold out......with the T8 and cfl s i have how much will i yeild

He lied to you to make a sale, or he doesn't know any better.

A normal output T8 will produce about the same amount of lumens as a normal output t5. However the T8 runs at 32w and the T5 runs at 28w. Also a T5 because of the smaller tube diameter actually delivers more lumens to the plant because of more efficient delivery (less losses on the back side of the tube because of the smaller diameter.

The industry (both commercial lighting and aquarium lighting) are moving to T5 HO as the most efficient and effective proven mass production standard fluoro lighting.

So you're straight on that now?

Ok, go back and look at my first post- T8 LED bulbs.

Were I to be starting now, I would use a T 8 fixture and get these LED bulbs

CFLs contain mercury gas. Not good, especially if you drop one. Bad bulbs must be disposed at hazard waste facilities

T5s need to be replaced every ~ 6th grow. Quality bulbs cost $10-25 (when you factor in shipping and tax closer to $30)

These led bulbs will last ~ 6 years. They will be great for veg into early flower. By then I expect higher power bulbs will be available

Those T8 led tube substitutes are pretty low wattage to spread over that length. Now if they put some 1w or 3w chips in them that would be a different story.

will the t8 led alone be enought for 5 plants untill early flower or till harvest....there kinda pricey

Kinda pricey? Did you read my explanation?

Purp, you should know that HeiloReigns has a fab flower going under 28 total led watts. My own grow is coming along great with ~ 100w

Bottom line, don't underestimate what low watt leds can do
