First Grow! 3x3 tent 600w HPS 12/12 from seed

Hey RiU I want to thank you guys before for helping me get my tent all set up. That heat was a real pain to deal with but all is taken care of now. I will be growing 4 Vanilla Kush fem seeds from Barneys Farm under 12/12 with a 600w HPS in a 3x3 tent.

Materials:
Secret Jardin DR90
Low Rider reflector 6"
600 HPS Hortilux bulb
Galaxy 600/400 ballast
Can-Fan 6" inline fan
Can filter 33
2 6" clip fans (positioned right on level to the light)
6"duct, Therm, Timer, Sun Grip rope ratchet, and a few other pieces.

Seeds:
Vanilla Kush (fem) from Barneys Farm

Medium:
Fox Farm Ocean Forest

Nutes:
General Organics Go box

Temp:
67*-79*

I had 4 seeds left and honestly havent smoked since January so I will admit im a little desperate. (made a resolution to not smoke until I grew it myself) so that's the reason for the 12/12 after this grow I will be ordering more seeds and will do a SCROG with 1-2 plants with full veg.

Below is the picture of my setup and will continue to post pics every couple of days or so.

4/6 - We will call this day one. Put 4 seeds into Germ using the paper towel method.

4/8 - All four seeds sprouted taproots, put into soil and gave them a light mist. Started the lights on 12/12 about 16" away.

4/10 - 3/4 sprouted, and gave another mist.

4/11 - Last seed finally popped through.

4/13 - Seems like they are all doing well except for the one in the back left hand corner, a lot smaller then the others.

So here is a picture of the little gals. Day 8 since germ.

Your going straight to flower? no veg? I know they're fem. but are those your final pots? You said temps were good but ain't that light too much for them now? just wondering.

Ya Ive seen some nice threads with people doing straight 12/12 with a decent turn out. But honestly man the main reason I'm doing it is I haven't smoked since like December so kinda craving it, lol. So I just want to get a quick turnout to smoke while I start my second grow which will be 1-2 plants in a SCROG. Not sure which plants yet. But will for sure be doing a full veg cycle for that.

No I will leave them in the solo cups for 2 weeks or so then switch to 2g pots. I have 4g laying around as well if needed but I think the 2g will be fine.

The light is on the lowest setting 400w will switch to 600w when I feel like they are a decent size. As of now they look fine I have it set like 18" away.

My light cycle is from 8pm-8am so during the off hours the temp ranges from 67*-73* and when the lights are on 77*-80*

Originally I had a 4" inline fan pulling air threw my filter and out a window and had a 6" booster fan blowing air into the reflector. Well needless to say that didn't work. Was hitting 96* at night. So I returned the fan for a 6" took out the booster and connected as such Filter -> Reflector -> Fan -> Window. Problem instantly solved!

Now it stays within 67*-81*. However I do have a question. Is this temp change a big deal? Should I be worried about a 14* difference? I'm kinda dissecting everything I'm doing and lol kinda freaking myself out. (are the lights to close/to powerful, should I water more, etc) I'm sure a lot of it's in my head and after a couple grows ill be more calm about it. But as for now the temp thing I'm curious about.

Thats perfect temp range. 65 to 85 is ideal. As far as the light goes i would raise up to about 24-36" over the plant tops for the first 2 weeks or so. Just make sure the soil stays moist, not wet, not dry and you'll be good to go.

Yep, I saw that thread, I was the one who suggested you take those fans back to the shop after the bad advice.

Yes temps are fine as TwoBrains said your temps are good.

72 -75deg f is considered the sweet spot.

Temps can drop into the 60's lights off that's not a problem.

Sweet, ya I was just worried they would get to cold but that's a relief. I'll make sure to raise the light up and will snap some pics and upload later tonight.

How is the space working out for you in the 3x3 tent? I have a 600w as well and am trying to decide on a 3x3 or 4x4 for 3-6 plants.

Also what kind of ducting are you using?

Nice setup smokey, Good answers too. All is well.
bEST way to check for watering is the "pick up the pot" test. Even if the soil looks wet, give it a half dose.

4x4 + 600w= Perfect for 6 <min.

4" ducts work fine. My girls stay in the high 70's, 40% rH. Use a little more water but not too bad. Bout 10 Gal. every 3 days.

So if I only do 3 plants a 3x3 should be enough room for HPS/ducting/filter/and fan?

And I meant what kind of ducting he was using as in just normal flex ducting from the hardware store or the more expensive stuff...trying to figure out what I wanna get.

3x3 for 3 plants would be perfect you could probably go as far as 4. I guess it really depends on how your gonna grow, Lst/scrog/or just let them grow tall.

For ducting I use 6" my filter, fan and reflector are all 6" so it makes life easy, and it's just regular duct from any hardware store. You can probably get away with 4" but depending on what you were using you may have to go with some 4"-6" reducers.

I went with the 3x3 just because it fit my spot better. It's not like its a huge difference in price. If you can fit the 4x4 fine then I'd say go for it. Especially if you plan on growing more than 4 plants. I plan on doing 1-2 SCROG so the 3x3 was a perfect size for me.

there'll be in a vegetation state for atleast 3 weeks anyway growth would probably have been quicker if you where to veg for 3 weeks then flip

From the other threads of people doing 12/12 from seed, I have seen some great turnouts. Also saw one with the same set up and using the same genetics which provided him a decent yield in something like under 3monthes.

But this is just my first go around, already things I will do differently next time. So I assume there will be some more slips here and there.... But we will just have to wait and see.

See, Smokey, It seems weird to go straight flower but that's why i sub'd. You seem to know your stuff pretty decent
though. Must of done a ton of research.
