First Grow! 3x3 tent 600w HPS 12/12 from seed

4/24 - Day 14

Hey sorry for the lack in pics, been busy the last couple of days. I got a few more pics of them under the cfl's they seem to be doing better except for one, you'll see below. It's still a little yellow and on the small side.

A few questions though.
1. When would you suggest moving them to the 2g pots?
2. Should I switch back to the HPS after I move them? or give them a couple days under the cfl's to gain some strength back?
3. I haven't watered since 4/18 and they are still a little damp is 6 days normal?

Anyway here are some pics...

Well I'm gonna add some perlite to my FFOF and transplant them in the next couple days. Ill let them sit under the cfl for a day or two after then switch back to the hps under the 400w setting. Then slowly increase it.

I'm interested to see how this grow turns out for you. Never pulled the trigger fully on 12/12 from seed but I've seen some good grows with it.

For 9 days yes I would say the plants are a little small esp to be under 400 watts. I wouldn't go adding nutes yet like stated unless its in low doeses because the soil should have enough in it right now to carry it for 2-3 weeks with just plain water. Adding some cfls would be a good idea get it closer to the seedlings hopefully you see some good growth then.
I am currently doing a 12/12 from seed and I am having some good results IMO. I will certainly make some adjustments next time (yes there will be a next time). I like it because I have so many seeds, mostly freebies, that have been adding up and I am not just really excited to grow them. This current batch is for seeds, so I did a 12/12 in smaller pots so I could fit in as many as I could to get as much selection as possible (plushxkf 2nd generation). Next batch I will be doing 7 fems and 2 regulars, strains such as WWXBB, Critical +, Super Silver, Cheese, etc. (freebie stuff) to clear out some inventory, compared to the 3 fems or 2 fems/2 reg that I normally run per batch.

I wouldn't transplant those puppys till you have to water them like every other day. More soil, too much water. I have had plants in Solo cups for almost a month after seedling stage.

Interesting, I like to transplant mine early. They always seem so happy after the transplant.

I would never transplant a sick plant unless root bound. To me they look in between health. Mess with em, likely kill em;
If he aint watered in almost a week, i'm guessing it all evaporated! Anyone else agree?

Check tonight and the soil is still damp knuckle deep. The main reason I wanted to get them transplanted was I didn't add perlite to the seedling mix and wanted to make sure when they get to the 2g they had FFOF and perlite. I'd figured it would have to help. It definitely has to be the cfls, I watered every other day with the hps and ever since I brought the cfls in the soil just wont dry out.

So it's your guys suggestion not to transplant until larger?

4/29 - Day 19 FS

So a couple days ago I transferred out of the solo cups and into 2g pots, using 50% FFOF and 50% perlite. And switched back to the HPS and raised it about 30" or so from the top of the plant. I watered them yesterday and will start nutes tomorrow at 1/4 strength depending on the dryness of the soil.

In the last couple days 3 of them have seemed to do very well. Two were always green and of decent size, one a bit yellow and a tad smaller, and the last very yellow and small. (still no idea why, same genetics and same treatment as the others) you will see what I'm talking about below.

Anyway here they are at day 19 from seed.

I just can't figure out why the bottom left is so much smaller than the others. Maybe when they start getting nutes it will turn around, so we shall see.

Since you just transferred them into the FFoF mix, hopefully they will start getting more nitrogen. Looking a bit yellowed.
For your next run, I might suggest going with a lower perlite % (30%perlite/70%FFoF) so it doesn't drain too fast and can hold more water.
This will become more important as the get larger and start needing up to a gallon a day.
What are your temps at during lights on?

When the lights are on and been running for 3-4hrs it may get up to 81* but usually 79* top, 67* lowest.

When I do my second run I will be doing probably different ratios and see which ones do the best (70/30-60/40-50/50) but will definitely cook the soil for about a month.
-I'm not sure if I will use the FFOF again or a supersoil the people are all talking about. Coco also looks really nice as well.

2 of them look great, 1 very lime green and slightly smaller, and the last one just looks horrible. I'll try and get some pics tomorrow but I'm not sure if I should let it go or take her out back and put a bullet in her.
