How far from canopy should I keep my blockbuster hood?

Hey

Running a grow right now actually 5 weeks into flower and everything looks to be going fine, but was wondering if I'm keeping my light too far or to close to my plants. I want to make sure they're all getting even light. I have a 4x4 tent and was told by the guy at my hydro shop the blockbuster is perfect for this. Right now I have it about 15" away. Was wondering if anyone had experience with this hood in this space could tell me what the optimal distance from the canopy is for even distribution of light would be?

Thanks

600w digilux hps. No heat issues and I can put my hand on the glass without it getting hot, but just want to know how far from tops for even spread of light over 4x4 area

Thanks

For 250/400/600 watt, divide the watt by 10 to get distance in Centimeters, i.e. 400 watt is 40 cm = 15-16 inches. 600 watt is 60 cm = 23-24 inch. Depending on ventilation and temps you can go a bit lower.

I have my 400watt roughly 12-14inches from my canopy, and 600 watt at 20inch but AFTER they are used to it, so after a week or so on the distance based on the formula above.

Is this formula for preventing heat stress n light bleach bc I have none of that and have had my 600w light 16" above with no issues just want to know for the blockbuster what is the closest I can get it and still cover 4x4

as long as it is not hot on ur hand u should be good but u gotta remember about the plants on the edge of the garden and make sure they get enough light too

Yes, it kind of is. Basically you want to get it as close as possible. But I see your point now, sorry, wake and bake.... Does the hood manufacturer not provide those specs?

Nothing from manufacture. They say u can move air cooled hoods closer but if too close will lose spectrum

How can I be sure the plants in edge are getting same light as those under the light?

No matter what, the plants toward the sides of the garden will always receive less light. You'll need to move the plants around the garden every few days, and/or setup the space as to take advantage of what's there. Meaning, you place the plants in a coliseum-like manner (search for pics) using a light meter to gauge the intensity, you choose the placement relative to the strain and a given individual's structure, again, as it relates to light intensity.

FWIW, my 600HPS' with Blockbusters hang ~10 above the canopy. Good luck.
