Im going to try and make my grow room in the attic spa2013-04-14 21.55.39.jpg2013-04-14 21.56.08.jpgce above my garage. I need to know if i can just put my plants up there with 4 cfl lights and 2 fans and if they will grow. Any help would be amazing!

Yes, they will grow!
You are going to have to add water!!

What is your budget for this grow space?
You may want to partition off an area so you can better manage your lights & ventilation.
Four CFLs (wattage?) may offer some limitations on how many plants & how big you can get.
What ambient temperatures can you expect in this space?

Thanks for the help, the lights are 13 wat each and my budget is around 200, so if you know anything that will increase my grow that would be awesome!

If your budget is $200
Buy $130 worth of CFL's/splitters/cords and $30 worth of fans...How far away is your water... OK $5 for a water bucket...smell ONA gell $4.00...
Soil seeds nutes... oops forgot...$30 for soil/nutes... use bagseed for first grow...
$1.00 left over...

Okay, let me get this straight, you don't wana waste money, but you live in a 1.2 million dollar house???? I'm callin bullshit...
OK, that was a little harsh, but I'm an old head and can see BS a mile away :wall:

My wife and I have over 4,000 square feet of house on 10 acres, it cost me $102,000. I invested around $500 for my grow room so far. Are you buying your house or are you living with someone???..like mom or something..

Dont buy a bunch of spiral CFL's and splitters. Take that money and buy a high output T5 fixture. You can find fixtures with bulbs that would suit your needs for less than you will end up paying for all those splitters, bulbs, extension cords & adapters. Not to mention it will look a lot cleaner, be easier to manage and provide better coverage.

24w 1600 lumes each placed appropriately are a great resource for secondary lighting to ensure coverage in the lower branches, using 6500K during veg and 2700K light spectrum during flowering.

IMHO I think they can be invaluable in ensuring enough light is available for photosynthesis. I would never infer they are useless.:bigjoint:

Took me 200 dollars to set up a small one plant grow.

Don't use 13 watt bulbs. They wont do shit.

500 dollars is a realistic budget.

You will need to build a box or buy a tent to grow in there. 50-150 bucks.

You will need proper lighting. CFL route is still gonna cost you (extention cords, splitters, bulbs). Would be good to use cfl for a month veg and hps light for flowering. Light budget will be 50-200 dollars.

Fans. You will need a fan to blow lightly over your plant or cfl bulbs and you will need and exhaust fan. 30-100 dollars

Smell. Grow northern lights on your first grow to avoid having to buy a carbon filter or a bunch of gel.

Nutrients and soil. 30 - 50 dollars. They should last you 3-4 grows tho.

Then all the incidentals. Pots, timers, trays, etc..

I spent 400 dollars at HTG between two grows just for basic setups. I don't even know how much I spent at walmart and the depot. Shit adds up.

Fuckin RIGHT!
BIG GRIN!!!! I moved up this little ladder myself, and am SO happy to have a t5!!! I paid $200 out the door at my local shop for an 4 foot, 8 bulb t5. Life is so much easier now.
