Power went out

So I decided to do some work on my grow box today and when I moved it the power went dead in my bedroom. I didn't hit anything when I moved it out from the wall. So went to the fuse box and flipped the switch, I didn't notice if it was off at first I just kind of flipped it on and off and the power still isn't working in the bedroom. Anyone have any ideas on what to do?
 
You'll have to trace the power lines from the wall sockets back to the breaker box and find out where the power stops. Make sure the electrical boxes are still wired and connected properly, which I would check first. This may be a job for an electrician......
 
Damn, I figured we would probably have to bring someone in. Luckily my babies are still really small and I can just keep them somewhere else. But still its the whole room, every outlet that is out.
 
Is there some sort of fuse ?
Do other rooms have power ?
If its an automated fuse switch, you might have cooked it, have it replaced by an certified electricien.
Are all the sockets in the bedroom not working ? or just the one where you box was hooked up.
Does your grow box work in another room where the power does work ? (I would wait with this until sure you did not fry your fuse switch)
Did you pull the wiring through the wall when you moved your box ? (could have damaged a power cable in your wall or socket)


In any case, before any of the above, electricity kills, get someone who knows what he or she is doing.
Preferbly a friend whom you can explain to what happend.
 
Theres just a breaker with a little yellow button that says test. Yes all other rooms have power and all the items in my box work plugged in another room. Everything was plugged into 2 power strips from the wall, and all the outlets in the bedroom dont work.
 
Are these breakers or fuses?

If they are breakers, check each one. Some models of breakers will trip but leave the switch just slightly out of the On position (doesn't flip all the way to off) so it can be hard to tell if any tripped upon a quick glance.

As someone else asked... is everything else in all other rooms working ok?

So if the breaker is flipped on and I hit the test button it will switch it to off? If that's the case, it didn't work. I just tried it out.
 
Ok, then its busted, have it replaced by someone with skills.
Hide your growbox, call a certified electricien.

These things happen.
 
Alright man I appreciate the info, I will do as you said. Luckily I rent and we can have someone come in and fix it and we just send our landlord the bill.

when mine trip i manually have to flip them to the off position then back to on before i can get power going again. some breakers are designed to just shut down when tripped and stay in the on position. kinda sucks to be honest. im thinking of upgrading the power to new box and breakers with a full 100 amps of 220 pulled in to my grow.
 
Another thing to check is test the bathroom Ground Fault Interrupter outlet.

In my years, I've seen some fucked up electrical runs, and have seen bedroom outlets connected to the GFI in the bathroom.

Unlikely, but worth a quick look.

Are you checking the actual circuit breaker in the fuse box, or are you using the "test" button on the electrical outlet (GFI outlets have this).

It sounds like (and I may be wrong) you are checking only the outlet. You need to go to the fusebox and check the actual circuit breaker there.

Either way be careful, you most probably have a short somewhere...don't start a fire!

Tip, do hide your grow box.
In some cases electriciens need to check more outlets and switches or like mentioned above, the grounding, because safety protocols.

On the actual breaker in the panel, there is a yellow test button right on the thing
 
When this happens to me my landlord told me to unplug everything from the walls on all sockets in the house and then flip the switch. I live in an older building and this is what works for me
 
Is it a newer home? Codes now have ground faults in each bedroom. If you have flipped the breaker off and back on after you pressed the test button and it still doesn't work you have faulted out the breaker and may have to be replaced.

Generally this only happens with a surge of power when you are at the max of the breaker. Split things up if you can.

Just random stuff like the tv or EVERYTHING like the washer/dryer, and stove?
 
you either tripped the gif or the breaker. if there is a GIF that says test and run or test and something try hitting that if not you need to figure out which breaker in your panel runs that room. go out side and flip each one, hvae someone inside on the phone tellin you which shuts of which and write them down. your bedrooms will be 15-20 amp breakers try all these first. you may have to get new one there only like 5 bucks
