DIY Bubbleponics Question

I've built my own bubbleponics type system. I can't find an irrigation manifold to feed the water into the net pots. My question is do I have to use the irrigation manifold or can I just fill the water up to the net pot? If I can fill the water to the pot should it just reach the bottom or should it be farther up? Thanks!

You can fill the res up to 1inch from top. You need pump and airstone in the water to make the air bubbles..when you see the bubbles of air in the hydroton you should be good and just hand water once in a while..or you can order irrigation manifold from stealth hydro bubbleponic as seperate part.

I would just handwater until the roots meet the water level.

I always keep half of the cup submerged with water even when roots show and have never had any problems, I figure why waterf from the top when you don't have to

Ok this is good enough for me. Gonna build one of these for my next grow. Notice Wally World has the foot long air strips nowadays for about 4 bucks or so. Figger to use at least two..maybe three of those. Now do I want rockwool or something else for the net pots? Thanks.

That's what I did was filled the water to about half way figuring I wouldn't have to water it... Seems like all three ways would work though. The guy at the hydro shop told me not to submerge the roots in the water at first... Then he said they'll hit the water quick neways. I'm just gonna wing it. LoL

Have the pots about an inch in the water until roots have grown and dangle from the net pot then its up to you, some say have an inch between the top of the water and the pot and others say to keep it touching the pot but both ways will work, i wouldnt use rockwool as it holds too much water in the beginning, i would use hydroton (clay pebbles) but soak and rinse them well before using.

I ran into the same problem, Orchard Supply has a drip irrigation system section in that store where they sell irrigation manifold that go from 1/2 tubing down to 1/4 tubing to the drippers that go to the net pots. Hope this helps

yea, why would you not use rockwool? you germinate the seed, put it in rockwool and then put it in hydroton and let the plan grow. keep the water level 1in from the bottomw of the netpot and the roots will grow.

I've actually just skipped using rockwool altogether. I germinated, grew in soil for 2-3 days, took plant out of soil and straight into some perlite. I've been handwatering and the roots have grown into bucket.

I started mine in soil then transferred to rockwool and it held too much water causing some mold in my water. I would stock with clay pebbles like they are saying and have your water just an inch over your net.
