og kush question

thats probably cause they get their stock from the same few seed producers. most of the fem breeders are not even breeders more like middle men for the big seed producers I forget what shantibaba said but it was something like their are only 2 or 3 actual fem seed producers and they all carry the same stock but they just throw different names on them.
I was wondering about this...I recently started growing Emerald Triangle's Lost Coast OG. I bought it some time last year and forgot all about the "OG" part so I found myself ordering a pack of Dinafem's OG. Well, at least I can compare the phenotypes, better take some pictures.

Got a clone of the ET version going too so it will be quite some time until I get around to the Dinafem.

Looking through my seed collection, it seems I also have one each (freebies) of RP OG Kush #18 and Kandy Kush. The Kandy Kush is OG X Trainwreck. As someone who grows for personal reasons only, is the Kandy worth throwing in the rotation any time? I prefer quality over quantity, it seems the Trainwreck is in there to increase yields.

Yes, your dead on homie, plus the orginal came from Grass Valley and was orginally called Nepali OG kush. Then the cut was taken to Tahoe and then renamed Tahoe OG .
I was waiting for someone to drop that might as well be the one I first learned it from...every time I see the tahoe I think of redman420 and that it's napal OG from grassvalley.

Emerald triangles lost coast is a recreation using similar but definatley different genetics. They use chem4 and cross it to an old school house strain of theirs but neither are the original parents and thus make a whole new/different strain...and shouldn't be called OG IMO. I did their SSOG and lost coast last year and they weren't true OG's. A lot of skunk in them.

I also had kandy kush last year too. Definitely worth it. The first OG cross that was really pure OG but with great yields. The kief from my trimbin was full melt basically, and boiled...crazy trichomme coverage. I keep the cut in my stable for a reason.

Where did you get that info about Lost Coast OG? Not saying it is inaccurate, I have no idea, but ET stated it was Pakistani Kush x Lemon Thai x Chemdawg #4.
^^^Thats right and the (paki x lemon thai) is the old school house strain I was talking about. But it came from the breeders family...they have had it since like the 70's. ET has stated on other forums that they are beans that have bean passed down generations and are not the original stock used to make OG.
They follow the concept of chem x lemon paki, but that doesn't make it OG specially when neither of the parents for lost coast are from original OG. LC is like OG2k as in 2000's, since chem4 was a original chem bean but was popped in 06 and ET didn't pop their lemonpaki till post 08ish(seed is from 70's though).

The real original OG is (Chem91 x lemon thai paki). And there is a strong opinion that OG is a straight S1 of the chem91 cut. But assuming that it is (chem91 x lemon paki), they are different(and original is long gone) than the ones used by ET. Plus chem4 is very different from the chem91, growing and smoking. The chem91 is what makes OG what it is. ET should of hit a chem91(super rare) with their lemonpaki.

I get what they were trying to do and that's why it's called and OG. It is a good strain in it's own right but when you want the real OG it isn't it. It's good yielding and potent. I would of called it lost coast kush not OG if it were me.

Without a doubt Kandy Kush is worth it. Also it will be one you want to keep in a rotation. It has OG potency ,taste, and smell and a large yield. It along with Sour Kush from them are my favorites to date. Maybe even holy grail weed.

^^ OK gotcha. Anyone know where Dinafem OG Kush and RP OG #18 fall in relation to the real deal?
It is rumored that dna/rp og kush 18 was a s1 selection from the abusive og cut. Hence the name #18 it was the 18th plant that was picked as the standout. It is said that they got it from breeder steve.

This was from another breeder

Real og is low to average but the buds are connisour if done right. Dr greenthumb ghost og kush s1's are super dank and still in my top strains I grew/smoked and prob the closest you can get to the real deal OG without getting the clone but he's a rip off as he charges way too much for beans . Bodhi goji og or ancient og sound like good strains to try as I thought and that's why both are in my vault:)
