Chronic Pain

Hello,
At the beginning of last year I was attacked a nearly beaten to death while walking down the street. I suffered numerous facial fractures and had to have reconstructive surgery.

Ever since then I have been having regular pain in my face where the fractures where the fractures were. The pain is extremely distracting and makes concentrating and working hard.

I am sick of the pain and want it to stop and have been doing research into treatments. I am not willing at all to take man-made prescription drugs for the pain and my research and lead me to medical marijuana.

I currently don't live in the state of Arizona but am willing to move to get treatment for this pain I am sick of it.

So my question is does this count as chronic pain and qualify me for medical marijuana? How long do I have to live in Arizona to get my card?

Also, does me having my card effect my rights in any ways? I have heard that in state with medical marijuana people can be charged with an OVI even when not actually stoned while driving just because they have their card. I also heard that you aren't allowed to own a gun anymore once you get your card. Now, I know you can't handle a gun while stoned (that would be stupid) but are you still allowed to use one when you aren't medicated?

First I want to say Az has a zero tolerance rule when it comes to driving under the influence. Az does convict folks for pot DUIs. As far as arms are concerned - you can't go into a bar and drink alcohol and you surely can't be drinking and possessing a firearm - so the same principles should apply IMO.

There are alot of reasons to skip Az if looking for a safe place to use medical marijuana without prosecution. I would start with CO or WA then Cali then all the other MMJ states first and then AZ.

You do qualify for MMJ in this state - Severe and Cronik pain!

Yes I understand that you can't drive or shoot a firearm while stoned my question is whether or not it affects your ability to do those things when you are not stoned. I had heard that just having a card is enough to get arrest for an OVI even when you are not high. I had also heard it takes away your ability to own a gun. I'm not asking if I can shoot one while stone I'm asking if I can still own one for use when I'm not stoned.

Also, thank you for the reply and am I correct in assuming you mean that police harass MMJ users? I won't move to CO or WA because of their gun laws.

That is true in any state in the nation. But it's going to have to come up for challenge soon with 2 states completely legalizing. But as it stands now medical marijuana can't own a gun. Anyone abusing a schedule 1 drug can't have a firearm. Oh and that is not my take on it that's our federal govt.

Well I guess I'll look into some other way to manage my pain than medical marijuana then.

Thanks for your help glad I found that out before I got a card and lost my right to own a gun.

The state does not look down on owning firearms and having a card, but the feds do. I've purchased a few guns since having a card and have not been denied even with a background check. Now if you get busted by the feds with mmj and a gun, expect an additional 5 years in a federal pen. But personally i don't worry about the feds busting me for anything.

You would qualify in Wa. Also you don't have to be a resident in Or. to get a card. In Wa. I can add Or. on my MMJ paper for an extra fee. I don't know about the gun thing but I lost the right to own a gun and it's never stopped me from having one if I wanted it.

Do not move to Arizona. By the time you get here you won't be able to grow and some twit will try and charge your $365 for an ounce that's worth $200. Move to colorado or california or washington of mexico.

I would just like to add to this that i do a lot of cooking with Mj butter , cookies , cakes etc,
I find this is better and hits the pain a lot better than smoking and is an all together easy to handle experience and your state of mind is less affected.

Though i definitely agree about edibles working better for pain, I most certainly DISAGREE that they affect your state of mind less. I can smoke all day and still function at a fairly high level... but a few edibles and im like Corky from "Life Goes On".

wonder why that is lol? how do you make ur butter? Id LOVE to find a way to keep the pain relief but remove the loss of IQ points.

you can grow enough to manage pain in your closet.....right where you are....don't even tell the gov't

just saying if you're gonna have a gun even though your not supposed to, why can't you grow some meds even though you're not supposed too

anyone here have firsthand experience with high CBD strains/ pain management?

Yeah umbre i bake all my own and make my own canna butter using only trim.
I used to make hash with it but find the butter a lot more fun and useful.
The whole silk screen process was hard work,

Here is the RIU link for the butter.
I guess it effects ppl different ways or it may be as i am cooking with trim but smoking fat nuggs :)
