They look sweet don't they? lol

I can't remember if I put compost in the mix this time or not honestly lol. I usually use 1.5 cubic feet of humified compost in the mix to 12 cubic feet of base soil.

If there is compost in my current mix, there is only one bag from a regional vendor. The same vendor that provides the base for commercial compost tea manufacturers in Michigan. Their recommended application is 1/16th to 1/8th inch top soil amendment for potted plants. I usually go with 1.5 cubic feet to 12 cubic feet of roots and 50-75 lbs of castings.

Roots claims to have peat in it, but it can't be much. Definitely a much higher ratio of coco. I'm really considering taking a look at the soil options my regional people offer. They're are incredibly cheap! I've grown in the 201 and it did ok. That was before I started mixin' with the fixin's.

Ahh ok! It sounds like you would want a little more compost in that mix right?! Given that compost should make up roughly 33% of the entire mix!
I added .5cl compost to probably 1.1-1.5 cl of soil that I recovered from the big three to reuse!
Most mixes are like 1/3 compost would you agree? That could be a bold statement lol but I feel like it might be ok to make lol!
Could prob go with more casting too right?!

But wait, didn't you say you thouhgt your mix was a bit heavy?? What do you think makes it heavy? How about the aeration means mix in?

Yoyoyoyoyo... I think most mixes are less than 1/3 compost, but I don't really know to be honest. You're exactly right though, I would like my mix to have more compost. Last night I got ripped and considered using 1 bale of Pro-Mix BX (3.8 CF), 3 bags of FFOF (4.5 CF),3.5 CF of local compost, chunky perlite, 50-75 lbs of castings. Then build from there.

I'll would start with 50 lbs of castings and see how it looks when I'm finished. I think the coir, castings and amendments make it heavy, not a lot of perlite and no added peat outside the stuff in the RO (not much). Subs mix doesn't call for any added perlite or any blend of other base. That's where I think the mix can be improved.

What up bossssss :joint:
I think that base sounds prima bro! No doubt about that.

So say for roughly 1.5 cu ft you need to add 3-5cups total of mineral and nutrition amendments! My last two batches I've gone with 4.5 per cu ft.
I just double up on the kelp meal and use it as a mineral and nutritional amendment bcuz it's loaded both ways!

So for roughly 12 cu ft i think you cant go wrong with anywhere from 24 cups total being the bare minimum, up to 40 cups max which would be on the heavier end..
And by those amendments you know I mean you kelp and guano and tomato tone. You don't really need a lot when you think about how the soil is gonna work..You get more of you N from the EWC content in to soil...The P comes from the guano! Can't forget to inoculate the soil with the mycos spores too.
They'll stay dormant til some roots wake them up, but when germ'd and ready to work, they're gonna free up any P that can be free'd up!
The Tomato tone you already know is ful of everything, just like the kelp meal...Those two amendments cover the whole spectrum of shit needed bro!
The guano also packs minerals and in the soil it kills harmful microbes.

I feel like the supersoll has a lot of a lot it in! And I'm not hating on it in now way bro! So don't want you to think that..I just think that few can go further. For example, blood and bone meal and high in N and P but that's about it. EWCs are high in N and help buffer, while the Bat Guano is high in P and helps mineralize and keep predatoty nematode under control, and then the kelp introduces too much to account for lol, kinda like the EWCs and Compost!

I'm rambling by now lol! But I think I'm gonna try and go with the bare minimum or perlite too!
And speaking of that I just thought of an idea to test you soil lol....

Fill up a smart pot with nothing in it, water it down and just sit it in one of your rooms and see how it dries up after a couple of days...
Give it a week or two or doing so and i think by then you should be able to see how it's gonna dry out right?!

Just thinking out loud tho haha :peace:

Yes! Thank you for my fix haha!
Everything's looking back to normal huh?!
I see a few entire frosted fan leaves lol! I don't have any of those :/

I think you can keep on the Neptune's in the teas to supply some N bro!
You can also topdress with a good bit of kelp and EWCs, or just EWCs!
They're full of N fixing microbes which can work right away too!!
In the event that you're yellowing a lil prematurely, I wouldn't hesistate to try the fish hydro in a tea and then top dress with EWCS or do that the other way around, whatever lol! :peace:

Pretty sure the pic you enlarged is my Deep Purple Haze from last winter lol. I don't know how I got that in there. I'll probably mix up a tea today so its ready on Sat. The flowering ladies in the pictured tent got hit with some organic mix of 4/7/10 and some 5/5/5 with peat top dressing. I'll hit them with some EWC before their next watering, thanks S420! Its def not back to normal, but its looking better. I've been doing teas once per 7-10 days, but mostly water to see how they react.

I'm thinking I'll be mixing soil on Saturday, so I'm going to arrive at my mix recipe probably on Saturday morning lol.

I would choose a pic from last year lol...Go figure..
And also bro, the more I've been learning, it seems that that 18-24hour window in brewing is the "sweet spot"!
The longer the brew the less the chance you have of developing pathogens and going aerobic due to lack of oxygen in the, or the domination of any one microbe population, that favors the brewing conditions!

AND DAMN MAN! It's just spewing stink outta my grow space man! 30 minutes before lights come everyday, I get hit in the face with ODOR!
White Widow actually does stink quite a bit!

And I'm about to pick up some of that mushroom compost we we're talking about and use it with my recycled soil mix, so we'll see how that goes bro! Let me know what you ended up going with as far as your mix goes!

Well I would choose the pic from last year too! lol

Its funny you say that about brewing times because my shit usually gets used around the 24 hour mark lol. Its just sitting there... Foaming.... And my girls are thirsty! Its my understanding that you're right. The longer you're aerobic the more the opportunity for bad guys to start taking over the population. I won't be able to brew until tonight so they'll get it when they get it.

All the candles and plug-ins in the world won't get that stank out of your space hahaha. Not with dankness like that lurking behind the doors.

Grats on the shroom compost dude! I'm jealous! Later man, I'm signing out until tonight.

Haha you ain't NEVER lied about all the plug in and candle not cuttin' it with dank behind the door haha! NEVER LIED lol!
I got a carbon filter that I can't even use ATM bcuz my dumb decided to wait it out and not order another fan speed controller...
Hopefully I can manage for this last week and half...Otherwise I'm busting out the ozone haha!

And be easy bro! I'll be around! :peace:

Thanks BEECH! Querkle Bush is beasting! Notice all of the synthetic nutes on the bottom shelf? LOL, that's where they belong ;)

Not sure if there will be beans. She started shooting bananas about 10-14 days ago. Maybe some immature ones, but I'm thinking no beans. At least not in her, but maybe the neighbors lol. I went through and top dressed all flowering plants with a nice 1-1.5" layer of castings, 1 cup of Dr. Earth Organic 8 (4-10-7), and 1/2 cup of Dr. Earth Life (4-4-4). I hope it gives them some extra something to keep pushing along. Its all loaded with bene's too so they should love on it.

I'm busting my brain trying to figure out what I want to do for a soil mix and I'm so indecisive! FAWK! I'm leaning towards S420's idea and using a base organic fertilizer mix, I'm leaning towards both Tomato Tone and Dr. Earth Organic 8. I'll be posting in your thread S420 to get some feedback on my ingredients and amounts. I'm used to going with pounds as a measuring stick for Sub's mix and now I'm using cups for measuring mostly. I'm having trouble figuring out how much I should use.

THanks for the input and comments!

Just a few shots from the past couple weeks.

Querkle which has since been chopped. Will grab some pics of the nugs when they come off the ropes. She filled out but not as much as I had hoped for.

Querkle 3.jpgQuerkle 2.jpgQuerkle 1.jpg

Jackberry just before chop, throwing a few nanners.

Jackberry 2.jpgJackberry1.jpg

Super Lemon Haze pre-chop

SLH Chop 3.jpgSLH Chop 2.jpgSLH Chop.jpg

I should have another SLH coming down in another couple weeks. Next down is probably the AK that was yellowing a bit early on. Still a bit yellow but also still packing flowers. That one is in Vermifire potting soil. I haven't given her anything but tea and she's producing, but perhaps a little lean on N.

Prolly make some tea tonight, they haven't had any feeding in over a week and they're getting watered every other day to every two days depending on cycle stage in 8 gallon containers.

Good morning west side!

Yeah the Jackberry gets some purps in her. Small fruits and a PITA to trim though. That's not even the purplest pheno either. I do love the coloration of her, which is why I put up with the trimming lol. Her veg and flower traits are just whack, just like the El Monstre. The best part of her is her smell, like fresh berries mang. I'm going to run fewer of her though and stick with some of my favorites that trim easier while trying some new stuff. I have some new up and comers that I'll be able to check out soon. The hardest part about all of the training I do and vegging with T5's is that it takes awhile to finally get fruit from the new strains.

SLH should yield pretty decent, probably close to 3 zips once its cured, not bad for a shorter veg than I'm used to, and much better than some of the recent stuff that's been coming out of there. Things seem to be getting more back to normal since I tightened everything up.

Not sold on the Vermifire, especially for the price, but I did veg for a good while in there before switching so I'd like to see her roots when she's done. She is making nice fruits, although not as large as normal and it just doesn't look the best as far as foliage goes. I need to get a batch of tea going for tomorrow and get some more dressings on top of a few.

Good day boys, make sure to call your moms!

Querkle and SLH each yielded about 2.75 each dried, probably 2.5 after the cure. Not too bad for a very short veg on them.

Nug shot of Querkle, sorry cell phone shot!
