ok, heres the scoop....my ac guy gave me a estimate and my landlord who is like 80 wants to send his ac guy over to confirm the problem. so tomm night around 5 my landlord and his ac guy will be here. well, i grow in my closet, and have a squirell cage fan just above my closet ceiling which goes into my attic over to one side of the house. and i also tapped into one of the ducts with a 4" duct that drops through the attic into my room for cooling. i have my outside unit outside and my air handler in my garage not my attic. but i have 2 lines that go from the bottom of my air handler through the garage cieling into the attic. do i really have to pull my fan and patch up the duct? i know peice of mind id great and will most def temp fix things for appearance purposes, but what is your advice, BESIDES DONT GROW IN A RENTAL! lemme know, will they enter the attic?

I would pull it all just to be safe. I mean you have an HVAC installer looking at things. He probably knows when somebody has tapped into the line. Move everything to a friends house or something....

ok i will, i can just take my cage fan out and the 4" line, and patch the hole. i can keep everything in my closet it stays locked and theres no reason for anyone to pry in my closet for a ac. anyhoot, man, i just found this out today. i hate moving something that works. and then i have to put it all back the night they leave if they are not comming back. in middle of grow just started flowering saturday. anyways what a bitch, but its beats jail time anyday, lol

It's 5 o'clock somewhere

What did your ac guy say? If it's a freon level problem they only need to see the ac and evap coil. If it's an airflow problem they will need to look at your ductwork. I wouldn't risk it either way...

Your planning on replacing all those ceilings that you put holes in right!!!??
that would be the fair thing to do since it's not your property. Get your own place and you can make the ceiling look like Swiss cheese all you want-just don't do it on someone Else's dime.

first of all i am a 3rd gen painter, and patching a hole is cake, and yes of course i would patch the hole before i moved out if i dont buy the place. not everyone is a asshole! did you read the first post about advice xcept not to grow in a rental?

Actually I have done research a lot about growing on renters property vs your own and most of the time it favors renters. The reason is if you are ever caught by the law. If it is your property the city/county can seize everything. Now here's the kicker, to protect property owners, laws have adjusted that if somebody is cultivating marijuana in a rented home, the house is swept for evidence then immediately turned over to the owners. I guess this could work out in certain instances for the better. (Different procedures apply for meth houses due to chemicals used.)

Cliff notes: Don't get caught haha

What are you going to do with your setup when they come over to put the airhandler in?
the air handler is in the garage not the attic, my guy came and never went up ther , the only thing up there is 2 lines from the ahu and ducting to each room. i cant imagine them going p there, i have a pretty big house and the top of the unit is on a diff side than my cage fan. maybe i can just turn the fan off for noise and cover it with like a box, or something?

Ya-I read the first post were you said you ran holes through the garage and how you wanted advice on your problem but you didn't want to hear what you knew most of the respectable growers on here would tell you. Exactly what you already know. Your probably a fantastic painter and mabey things will work out for you in the future as far owning that property but bottom line is--------it's someone-else's property now!!!.

ok, what you said...anyway...update, i just went up there, and my attic is the whole house not a small area. the ductng i ued looks like it supposed to be there, and the cage fan is no where near the ah, it is over to the left in a tiny crawl space. i am going to leave the cool air ducting, and just cover up the cage fan after i turn it off....there is all types of coardboard up ther, and styrophoam and other stuff. nothing looks abnormal up there, and i am a grower that knows whats up there.

loolagigi - i had a similar problem a few back. my plants were about 2 weeks from harvest and my landlord called me to schedule when the fire marshall could come do a fire safety inspection. I disassembled everything and put it all in my car right before the lights went out at midnight, including the plants. they chilled there overnight (i left the windows cracked) and the fire marshall came in the am, checked the house out, left. Then i brought everything back inside, assemembled it, and made it to work on time haha!

so theres a success story - but my advice to you it to play it safe and get everything out of the house, and certainly get rid of the extra AC lines. I used to work HVAC, and those guys get to stuff in funky ways. If your having your air handler replaced, the technician is probably going to want to run another line-set from the air handler to the condenser outside. These line sets are copper piping that carries the refridgerant. Line sets are pretty difficult to run in anything other than a freshly framed house. The technician might need that room (you have already shown its a pretty efficient way of getting to the attic from the air handler). You just dont want to be in that situation where he needs to get in the room and you tell him you cant open the door...

If you can be home, BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN to be cooking something REALLY SMELLY. Just in case. Plus, if you also make cookies or something you can offer 'em to your landlord and he'd be all, "Hey, cool man." People appreciate acts of kindness. :)

I wouldn't lace 'em, though, he could freak or feel weird and old people already do that enough, and that would be bad, very bad, mkay?
