Does anyone NOT use bug repellent/fungus preventative?

if so, how do your harvest come out? how exactly do you avoid these problems? (bugs, pm, mold, etc)

i was thinkin of doing this b/c i burned the shit outta my plants with neem, and the dosage wasnt that high, there barely surviving and only taking minimal sun which they recooperate

i got some elecmentals 3 in 1 with pyrethrins and sulfur, which i sprayed em with w/o any harmful effect but id like to get away with spraying with nothing if i can, i know this is highly impropable but i was thinking what if i put them in the shed at night as well? thanks riu

i used my insecticide to spray some on my plants and bunch all around my plants to keep more bugs from coming.. the stuff i used is called Spectricide

are there organic mold preventatives? i plan on shaking my plants when they are flowering after it rains. also some strains are more mold resistant. i hear the juicy fruit I am growing is very mold resistant. also sweet seeds green poison is supposed to be mold resistant. green poison is good for high humid areas.

I guess I can understand the apprehension, but pyrethren based insecticides are safe and effective. Many are actually OMRI listed. I've done a good bit of research on this subject and feel comfortable using Safer End All up to mid flowering if I have to.

http://www.spectracide.com/Products...acide-Malathion-Insect-Spray-Concentrate.aspx

stuff i got for like 9 bucks for a 10 year supply... super concentrated.

its safe for vegies and fruits... its recommended to not spray during full bloom.

It kills:
"Aphids; bagworms; box elder bugs; fleas; fourlined leaf bugs; Japanese beetle adults; grape leafhoppers; houseflies; leafhoppers; leafrollers; mealybugs; mites; mosquitoes; moths; oak kermes; pear psyllids; plum curculio; rose leafhoppers; scales; scale crawlers; spittlebugs; tarnished plant bugs; tent caterpillars; thrips; whiteflies and wooly aphids"

i put em in the shed last year during flowering to rid myself of moth eggs, b/c the year b4 that i got hit hard, also used bt last year, but i noticed about an 90% drop in eggs and the worms never got a chance to get big and green (hella nasty to find)

instead of picking 10 eggs and 2 worms at a time, i was picking off like 1 or 2 eggs at most, that why iam thinkin of sheding them again, but i will have to get a fan b/c of stagnant air

Last year was my first year growing. With zero experience or prior knowledge I took over the care of 4 plants in August. All I had was a buddy who grows to answer questions and places like this website.

I was not prepared or setup to do any kind of preventative spraying, so I just figured I would address problems if/when the occurred. My only goal was to keep the plants alive through harvest.

I checked the plants every day and shook the morning dew off every morning.

I ended up losing about an oz. to caterpillars and mold. I also had some PM show up on a lot of lower leaves. I removed anything that was infected as soon as I found it. At harvest I had to go over every branch with a fine tooth comb and make sure nothing infected made it into the drying room.

I feel I got very lucky to only loose that much. It's a good thing I was checking my plants so thoroughly everyday because at one point close to harvest I found a leaf with hundred and hundreds of eggs on it. I suspected they were caterpillar eggs but wasn't sure. I cut off the leaf and put it inside a ziplock bag. Sure enough about a week later my ziplock back was filled with sever hundred tiny baby caterpillars that could have easily decimated my plants.

This year I invested in a bug zapper, some pump operated sprayers, neem oil, BT concentrate, Actinovate concentrate, and Serenade concentrate.

How did the neem burn your plants? I've been spraying mine regularly with 1 tbsp. of 100% neem oil, 1/2 tsp. of Dyna-Gro Pro-tekt and a few squirts of plain dish soap mixed into a gallon of water and the plants seem to love it.

^ iam thinkin the mix was a tad bit too strong, but they didnt show the burn till i put them under the sun, under the fluro. light they were fine

how much water do you mix with your neem?

I use none.

I make sure to get clean material and new soil and clean everything whenever I get the chance and pick up plant remnants from the floor daily.
My air intake has a filter over it so little bugs cant get through.
Whenever I need to go to my tent I make sure I'm not wearing clothes which I wore in or around the garden.
Furthermore I try to stay away from my tent as much as possible.

maybe I've just been lucky so far, but no bugs as of yet

I use 1 tablespoon of neem in a gallon of water. Maybe it was just the sun the burned them? If they have been living indoors under floro's the sun will burn them unless they're intruded to it slowly.

yea my mix was way stronger than yours, funny thing is 2 summers ago i was using 1 tsp to a gallon but with it wasnt dynagrow neem so i followed the instructions, this time ill go back to 1 tsp per gal, how has that worked for you btw? thanks

Well I'm using it as a preventative. I haven't tried to use that strength to kill off a major spider mite infestation or anything but my plants seem healthy and happy so far. I haven't seem any mites or mold yet. I thought I had some PM on a couple small plants but it turned out to be water spots from spraying. Scared me for a minute though.

Spray neem in evening when sun is going down, that way it does not dry on and burn your plants, mon has found it is better to do in evening and it soaks into plant rather than drying on plant.....hope this make sense

only stuff i use is bacillus thuringienesis, and you cant even tell that stuff was there after a few days. smells like balls literally. terrible

never used any 3rd grow.. I spend more time out side with the plants then most.. I will go hunting for bud worms all throughout the day.. (never had a mite issue) or anything else.. it's always those damn worms..

I went large last year and will never grow over 5 foot again I will grow out.. hated not seeing if there were bugs on the top collas.

Yeah you don't want to spray in direct sunlight. I always try to wait until late in the day.

bt is pretty good stuff imo, but it doesnt work on everything. what bt product were you using that smells? ive used mosquito dunks and ewc tea for the bt niether of those smell.
