hello everyone!
i'm pretty much the hardest newbie.... but here's the thing: i started germinating 5 seeds 18 days ago and they still don't sproud. getting kind of worried now. is it possible that the seeds froze to death or something? because i didn't put them on something warm. or does anyone have any other ideas?
i'd appreciate every comment!

thanks.

18 days is way to long to be waiting for them to germinate. It usually takes 1-2 days for them to germinate sometimes a little longer.

A little more info on how you were germinating would be helpful, too see where you went wrong.

i had them in a glass of water for 2 days i think. they sunk. then i put them in wet cotton woll, maybe it was too wet. i checked them every day. maybe they got too much light i don't know. so now i just took one out and put in in soil and i'll see what happens. thanks for the help!

Sprout should pop the surface in 2-7 days when kept moist at 70-90 degrees with pure water. I like to drop my seeds into 80 degree water and 24 hours later I will visibly see the tap root.

Now I know I have a viable seed and I drop it into about 1/2 inch hole of base soil in a plastic cup.(no feeding) When I first started I killed a lot of seedlings, just takes practice.

Warmth is important in the germination and seedling process. I use a seedling pad but I have used many things to keep the soil warm, even a cfl will work. Keep trying and good luck.

Probably drowned them or too cold. Also, the seeds could be no good. Apply light pressure between the thumb and forefinger. If they crush they are bad and need to be tossed.

Never heard about cotton wool being used to germinate, probably for a good reason. I grow in soil and I just use moist germination mix on a heat mat with the seed just under the top of the mix. I cover them with plastic wrap and I usually get 100% in 3 day's. Paper towels are popular also, along with rock wool cubes that were ph adjusted. You'll get it, just don't drown them next time which probably happened this time. Good luck

the thing is i have still 4 seeds left, so i've got a second chance!
If you haven't put them in the water, see if they are viable with finger pressure I showed above. If they are hard drop them in water and keep the temps around 80 degrees. 24-48 hours you should see the tap root.(see glass above for white tap root).

Then follow my guidelines above and drop them carefully into the soil. It's important that you do not touch the tap root. I use my fingers but some use tweezers. If the seeds are good, this will work and you can skip the cotton and paper towels.

Put in damp paper towel fold of course , then zip lock bag of clear wrap and into dark place dresser, cabinet ,ect. . I have good success with that if nothing in 1-3 days dont know but should work. Did thst to a blackberry yesterday she show for me today placed in rock wool and placed back into zip lock in dark jntil I see baby leave (not proper term I guess) cant wait.
