Pc Fan - help needed

Hi Guys

I have looked on the internet a bit and there does not seem to be a simple way to make a 12 volt DC pc fan run off 220 to 240 volt AC.

I have found 1 220/ 240 watt pc fan that runs of AC but there is far more choice when going for the DC ones.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to hook this up in a safe way.

Cheers :leaf::leaf:

You can get AC to DC converters at any electrical shop. Better yet, utilize a 240 AC to 12VDC power supply readily available. Even outlet malls in the electrical department should have same basic mains to VDC converters. - You also get those adjustable PSU for universal adapters, that utilized that round connector on devices.
You in the US? Try radioshack.

I am using x5 120mm 12VDC PC fans, fixed inline with each other to vent air from the grow area to my carbon filter - it's powered by a adjustable 12VDC PSU where i can crank up the output to 14VDC - Great for multiple fan wire-up as wiring more than 2 fans onto 1 PSU tends to drop the overall voltage supplied by the PSU, decreased fan speed. Needles to say it works like charm.

Peace, hope you come right!

Be careful dude. Make sure you do some solid reading before you go wiring shit up. I have started to put together my first pc grow but only after months of brushing up on basic electrical theory, safety and method. You don't want to start a fire over a bit of bud. Take care.

inceptor is right 12v dc power supplies are easy to find. ( I am using one from an old Jazz drive my fans are switchable from 5 to 12 v) Just make sure you understand DC and insolate anything you wire. happy growing

Hi Guys I am not in the US but I did think one of those DC converter plug things may work. My other question though is how to wire it. I am failry confident with wiring AC appliances ect etc.

So would simply cutting the connecter at the end of the DC power supply (the wire comes out of the converter and normally there is some sort of plus with like 4 points on it. ) Can I cut that off and connect the fan's wire straigt onto it? Obviously with DC you need to make sure you have + with + and - with - unlike AC which switches anyway.

Let me know if I am thinking along the right lines. The PC fan has those pc conector plugs so can I just cut those?
