thats pretty cool... I'd say the rest will follow soon enough... i saw some over priced sun master bulbs in my local (very small) hard wear shop so i asked the guy and he said ''over the last 12 months they have been over run with locals in looking for 400 watt heat bulbs for growing the wakie bakie and these are special one that give off even more heat but less of a electric bill'' the guy was about 70.... was funny

I'm sure they suspect lots of people are growing but they have no way to tax or control it.
If you think about it,it is supporting a little micro economy,there must be dozens of grow shops countrywide not to mention the boost in ESB's profits:)

Id imagine they have a fairly good idea whats going on... and that 90 % of people who buy shit from grow shops are ''Bedroom'' growers and I've heard from a gardai friend that they would (90% of the time) turn a blind eye to someone growing 4 or 8 plants and supplying close friends... as long as they are doing it quietly and with disgresion and manners...

that would be the sensible way to do it, but doesn't always happen like that/

I'd love to think that was the case but for every one Gardai who would think like that there's 100 that wouldn't.

Your kind of missing the point... If you keep your self to your self, tell no one and have a tight little circle, that 100 other gardai should not be even getting a sniff... its the detective / drug squad who deal with that kind of stuff... and these are some pretty switched on people who know what there looking for... and someone growing a little shit for them self and there friends is not what they're looking for... Obviously... If you a name in your town and out and about being a knacker, well, thats different... your destined to get cought...

I understand what you're saying but I don't believe for one second that if the drug squad knew about a hobby growers 5 plants in the bedroom they would not come knocking at 6am with a warrant cos they would,it's their job!
I think where a person has kept their nose clean would stand to them in court but that's about it.

They have far bigger fish to fry man... like i said, a (very close) friend of mine is a guard and a few years ago they (the guards from his station) had a christmas do where im from in the uk (trying not to get specific)... so i met up with my mate over there who was out with 50 guards from his station and i got blethering with a few of the older one's who were detectives of various flavours, and being completely honest... they were all basically sound (and completely changed my view of the gardai) , especially the older detective types... and that was the vibe back then and since then alot has changed... they really do understand the point that small growers who keep them selfs to there self's are indirectly helping the cause by taking sales from people involved in street daeling and all the violent criminal activity that goes along with it.. they do turn a blind eye... and the evidence for this is how few, growing on a small scale actually get caught... compared to the numbers who actually grow a few plants in there bedroom would surprise even us!!!

its a double edged sword really, there are ds all over that won`t raid houses because of who lives there, not because there terrace or a mansion etc, just because of who you are and whos your family, i would get the knock because of my family, its haunted me my whole life, but as they say you can`t choose family...

i know fellas that have "good" familys and they would never get a knock at the door, reported of not...

but i also know lads that have "good" familys ,were knackers too the coppers and had there doors knocked so you see your fucked if you do and your fucked if you don`t, best thing to do is keep the head down, say fuck all too anyone about it, keep your odour under control and have at it, but do so in the knowledge that once the seed hits dirt your breaking the law to the tune of 800euro a plant...

I definitely agree that they have bigger fish to fry and can't afford to waste what little resources they have chasing down personal growers,they also don't want to be clogging up the courts either.
The majority of small growers though are good at keeping quiet and that is the main reason why they will never be bothered but as you said earlier they are far more likely to give a guy a break if in general he doesn't cause trouble or is well known to them.
I haven't any friends in the force but I have come across a few sound lads here and there that use their common sense.

course they want to choke the courts with shitty driveing fines and small growers so they can soak you for even more money...hahahahaha true point tho....

Completely agree man... and fair enough, your gonna find a higher number of fannies out on the beat, but even if they are giving you bad manners.. just keep you cool and ask to deal with there boss... Its a higherarchy after all and generally (i know, i know...exceptions...)the cream floats to the top, a lot of what they are after is manners and respect...

Apart from a drink driving issue I had some years ago I never had a bother with them.
I'm not sure I'd respect or like them all as individuals but as a whole you gotta respect them cos the less time I give them to worry about me gives them more time to worry about the real criminals.
