these questions might sound stupid but ill need to ask them at some point.

so,... i get my soil, put them in the pots with the sprouted seeds in there.

which way do the seeds go in? ive read a few things about ppl destroying there seeds from planting incorrectly. does the white sprout have to face up? and be planted about 2 inches in the soil?

can i just pour the rest of the soil in my garden? next time i need some soil i can just go grab some?

which pots are best for seedlings? i know u can get the little ones that hold about 8 seeds at early stage. do all of the pots i use need drainage? or does that depend on the soil?

Ok, hopefully this'll answer some of your questions:

- Your sprouted seeds should be planted, sprout down. 2 inches seems kind of deep. I would say 1/2 inch would be better.

- I would just keep the leftover soil in the bag. That way it stays clean and easy to use for the next time. I guess you could put it in the garden, but then you risk having it filled with bugs or other contaminate when you want to use it.

- All pots you use should have drainage. Drainage prevent water from sitting in the bottom of your pot and rotting the roots.

- I would plant the seedlings in the 2-3 gallon pots immediately. This way you don't have to transplant later. There's really no such thing as a pot that's too big.

Hope that helps.

A few quick things...If you germinated your seeds you saw the little white "tap root" coming out 1st...the other end has his helmet "seed casing" on...Some say put the tap root down...me I just make an 3/8" deep little trench in the dirt and lay it on ot's side.It knows the way.. .I'm not a fan of touching the seeds too much...
Don't put multiple seeds into 1 container..1 pot = 1 pot...you can shock or even kill your plants trying to separate them...unless you're looking to do a 2 per pot thing...then you'll need a 10 gal. pot..
My soil is a 50-50 % mix of premium soil & pro-mix...a good rule of thumb is to get some gravel to put about 3/4" deep in bottom of pot...I would suggest that you pour boiling water on the gravel to sterilize it......but thats just me..:peace:

thanks for the extra info. i think i will do what twisty suggested. ill put a couple inches of rocks/pebbles on the bottom and pour the kettle over them an let the water drain out then put my soil on top.

i should be ok with planting the seed now, just as long as i know the white sprout faces down about half an inch in the soil.

and i was refering to the pots u can get that have 8 mini pots that are seperated. should i just go with the biggest pots i can find that will fit my grow space? this way i wont have to transfer any plants.....

thanks guys

Don't use those little sectioned pots they are a pain in the buttocks when you have to replant.I usually end up using a 3 gallon pot for my plants,I have used up to a five gallon but had a bit of moisture issues with those inside at least outside they do fine.:peace:

I came across a great seedling container that transplants easy..I buy Coffee Mate and the container is a sort of hourglass shape.. One end has a screw lid..I cut it in half in the middle and use the lid end for my pot...when it's time to transplant you simply unscrew the lid and your plant just slides right out.. A nice plug root ball...No trying to talk a lobster out of his shell thing....
