Hey all, i normally grow in Coco and have good success but DWC intrigues me, but have had no success. Here's my question. I have a bubble cloner which works well and uses 2" neoprene disks to hold clones. If i put a clone in it in a 2" net pot with the insert holding it, can i transfer it directly to my 5 gal bucket?? is 2" to small ?? must i remove the insert at some point and fill with hydroton ?? or will the insert give for the thickening of the base...Thanks for all input

It just matters how big the holes are in the netcup. If you think the roots will fit through when they're fat, it'll work. I use 3" netcups with giant holes. I'm glad I switched from 5inch netcups to be honest. Less hydroton needed.

Church is right. I started in 8" and they are freaking huge and a waste of hydroton. As long as you don't plan on the trunk getting bigger then the net pot, and as long as the roots can flow down easily, you be set.

Does it matter at harvest? No. Do i have to tug on them a little? Sure. Just raise the netpot and slice the roots, about 3 seconds.
