Alright so let me start out by saying i am in no way suggesting that you set up an asphyxiation mechanism to try this out i would never try this solo, so if you end up killing your self by trying this that's on you, but be warned it is very very dangerous...

So now that we have all that out of the way i just wanna say that i've never tried full on auto erotic asphyxiation, what i do is much less dangerous to your health, it still accomplishes some what of the same goal and you wont end up dead if you make a mistake or slip into the void. A few years ago i started smoking ciggs while i masturbated i probably found this out while i was drunk, high and to numb to get off, anyways what i found was very interesting, i found that if i inhale a hit off a cigg and time it just right and hold it for climax that the effects of the orgasm are much much more powerful. So i did some research on this and what i found was intriguing to say the least an author compares the rush of it to being equivalent to cocaine and just as addictive, i dunno about all that because i've never tried cocaine or full on autoerotic asphyxiation and i don't think I'm addicted to it, but then again i do seem to do it pretty much every time i masturbate so yeah lol. Anyways i was just wondering if any of you have any experience with auto erotic asphyxiation and i figured i might enlighten some of you as to my far less dangerous technique for doing it solo.

"Erotic asphyxiation or breath control play is the intentional restriction of oxygen to the brain for sexual arousal. The sexual practice is variously called asphyxiophilia, autoerotic asphyxia, hypoxyphilia. Colloquially, a person engaging in the activity is sometimes called a gasper. The erotic interest in asphyxiation is classified as a paraphilia in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association.

Physiology
Author John Curra wrote, "The carotid arteries (on either side of the neck) carry oxygen-rich blood from the heart to the brain. When these are compressed, as in strangulation or hanging, the sudden loss of oxygen to the brain and the accumulation of carbon dioxide can increase feelings of giddiness, lightheadness, and pleasure, all of which will heighten masturbatory sensations."[1] Author George Shuman describes the effect as such, "When the brain is deprived of oxygen, it induces a lucid, semi-hallucinogenic state called hypoxia. Combined with orgasm, the rush is said to be no less powerful than cocaine, and highly addictive."[2] Concerning hallucinogenic states brought about by chronic hypoxia, Dr. E L Lloyd notes that they may be similar to the hallucinations experienced by climbers at altitude. He further notes that no such state occurs in hypoxia brought about by sudden aircraft decompression at altitude. These findings suggest to him that they do not arrive purely from a lack of oxygen. Upon examining the studies on hypoxia he found that "abnormalities in the cerebral neurochemistry involving one or more of the interconnected neurotransmitters, dopamine, 5-hydroxytryptamine, and ß-endorphin had been reported in all the conditions associated with hallucinations.

History
Historically, the practice of autoerotic asphyxiation has been documented since the early 17th century. It was first used as a treatment for erectile dysfunction.[4] The idea for this most likely came from subjects who were executed by hanging. Observers at public hangings noted that male victims developed an erection, sometimes remaining after death (death erection), and occasionally ejaculated when being hanged. However, ejaculation occurs in hanging victims after death because of disseminated muscle relaxation; this is a different mechanism from that sought by autoerotic asphyxiation practitioners.

Practice
Various methods are used to achieve the level of oxygen depletion needed, such as a hanging, suffocation with a plastic bag over the head, self-strangulation such as with a ligature, gas or volatile solvents, chest compression, or some combination of these.[5] Sometimes, complicated devices are used to produce the desired effects.[6] The practice can be dangerous even if performed with care and has resulted in a significant number of accidental deaths. Uva (1995) writes “Estimates of the mortality rate of autoerotic asphyxia range from 250 to 1000 deaths per year in the United States.”[7] Cases have also been reported in Scandinavia[8] and Germany.[9][10] Commonly, teenagers are the ones most likely to commit suicide, so in some cases autoerotic asphyxiation may be falsely ruled as suicide.[11]

Accidental death
Deaths often occur when the loss of consciousness caused by partial asphyxia leads to loss of control over the means of strangulation, resulting in continued asphyxia and death. While often asphyxiophilia is incorporated into sex with a partner, others enjoy this behavior by themselves, making it potentially more difficult to get out of dangerous situations.[12] Victims are often found to have rigged some sort of "rescue mechanism" that has not worked in the way they anticipated as they lost consciousness.[citation needed] In some fatality cases, the body of the asphyxiophilic individual is discovered naked or with genitalia in hand, with pornographic material or sex toys present, or with evidence of having orgasmed prior to death.[9] Bodies found at the scene of an accidental death often show evidence of other paraphilic activities,[13] such as fetishistic cross-dressing and masochism.[5] In cases involving teenagers at home, families may disturb the scene by "sanitizing" it, removing evidence of paraphilic activity. This can have the consequence of making the death appear to be a deliberate suicide, rather than an accident.[14] The great majority of known erotic asphyxial deaths are male; among all known cases in Ontario and Alberta from 1974 to 1987, only one out of 117 cases was female.[5] Some individual cases of women with erotic asphyxia have been reported.[15][16][17][18] The mean age of accidental death is mid-20s,[5][19] but deaths have been reported in adolescents[20][21][22] and in men in their 70s.[9][19] Autoerotic asphyxiation has at times been incorrectly diagnosed as murder and especially so when a partner is present. Some hospitals have teaching units specifically designed to educate doctors in the correct diagnosis of the condition.[citation needed] Lawyers and insurance companies have brought cases to the attention of clinicians because some life insurance claims are payable in the event of accidental death, but not suicide."

If you hold your breath and stand up really quick, it will accomplish the same thing from a physiology stand point..much safer for you..IMO.

Not for men with erections. ;) cn
Hmmm boner in the way..then as he's climaxing, holding his breath, we would just need to invent something that boosts his head up real quick..if you think about it an awesome invention..every guy would want one..guaranteed not to die.

Maybe UB can invent he's always looking to make something..I just want my cut for the idea..can you imagine?

I was thinking more of the liability of falling on it with all one's weight. Could lead to injury.
But if you apply your idea to the other head ... flip it flat onto the belly before impact ... I think the Heads-Up™ might be quite the accessory. cn
