The 70's and 80's are past. Therefore his predictions, having not come true then, can never come true. If, in the future, we do have food shortages, his predictions still would not have come true. He was wrong. Just admit it.Never ever forget the story of the little boy who cried wolf, he cried when there was no wolf, cried again, and there was no wolf but in the end, he still wound up as a snack. Just because something predicted once does not come to pass does not mean it never will.

Not to mention the 1 million people who die of malaria every year unnecessarily because of her. Ideologues are never concerned about the harm their agendas do.Rachel Carson wrote "Silent Spring" and helped to create the wacko, dirt-worshipping left. Fast forward to the spring of 2013 and the cicadas are deafening on the east coast. File Rachel in the "sky is falling" bin next to Ehrlich.

Thank you. Nice to meet a man who can admit someone else was wrong. He was wrong.

DDT wouldn't have been banned when it was without her book being published. So she deserves the credit, and happily accepted it at the time, too. DDT was banned in other countries, nearly every country on Earth. Yes, it was losing its effectiveness and was being used unwisely by some. Thinking I have political motives in this is just wrong. Your "old creaky conservative wives tale" was still true. Falsely labeling things and and thing trying to use that false label to define it is one of BuckHead's tactics. I thought you were better than that. That is ancient bullshit - the truth is far different. Rachel did not single handedly ban DDT, nor was DDT banned in other countries - beyond that, it was used indiscriminantly and lost it's effectiveness as it was used on crops rather than insect control. You post an old creaky conservative wives tale that the right really wishes were true so they can condemn all interference with chemical manufacturers.

I can show ya that some countries banned it before 1972. And at least one after we did.
From a crappy source, but not bad:
In the 1970s and 1980s, agricultural use was banned in most developed countries, beginning with Hungary in 1968[33] then in Norway and Sweden in 1970, Germany and the United States in 1972, but not in the United Kingdom until 1984. Vector control use has not been banned, but it has been largely replaced by less persistent alternative insecticides.
So the book was published in '62. Then Hungary, Norway and Sweden, banned it, then US and Germany in '72.
never heard of filters on the intake fans?
The fastest growing strains, known, are Ruderalis x Indica. You get the auto flower varieties. IAC, filtered intake for mold and pollen, I say.
there seem to be hemotological studies that indicate problems, studies revealing stomach problems as well. There is a problem in that many of these studies are not reported by science popularizers - and because most of us don't sit down and read the original study or keep our eyes on such journals, we don't get much pertinent information.
Again, what you are asking for is for us to perform a multi-generational experiment on our entire nation and then, well, if we do find incidences of cancer or heart disease that we can in some way attribute directly to gmos (this crop of GMOs as more are coming online all the time) then we can what Dude? take all of those "products" out of nature? How would you handle our discovery of a gmo product that we find, in ten or fifteen years causes cancer of the liver in one in 70 children?
This is a study which shows damage caused when Glyphosates (i.e. round up) are inhaled. Eating round up ready crops does not involve inhaling round up.
I am not picking on you, Canndo, but you need to do better than this.
I believe the study was the inhalation of said chemical, now, there may be little difference between contact with the mouth through inhalation or through contact itself. I am finding more but you see, monsanto and friends have mounted a rather large campaign against research itself let alone the dissemination of research results. They are hardly open to any reasearch but their own - likely biased investiagaion.
