Nitrogen toxicity: got some questions

After alot of reading, i have diagnosed my 2 plants is suffering from nitrogen toxicity. Leaves are really dark green so i flushed with clearex a few days ago followed by a very light nute mix(GH Maxibloom). I Didn't notice the darker colour of the leaves early due to hps lighting and this is my first time having this problem.

She is on day 40 of flower but looks like shes in week 3 at most. Alot of possible bud sites with pistils all over but due to the toxicity, her growth seemed to take a halt.

New growth at the top of the plants are growing healthy now, so my question is will the older dark green leaves return to normal? and will she start budding normally?Meaning that i only lost some grow time.

My immediate responce is - "How sure are you that this is Nitrogen Toxicity?". Just how much were you over feeding the N in the first place? How much did the lable call for, and how much were you actually giving? Were you giving any other "Supplimental" N? I'm just curious because "N" Toxicity doesn't come up that often.

N tox is relatively rare, especially in flowering.

I'm confused if u are in flowering why are u giving it any N for in the first place. N is really only for the veg period. I agree with T.H and spek. N toxics should not be showing up in flowering unless u are giving the wrong nutes at the wrong time. Check the NPK number on ur nutes. For flowering ur N should be the lowest number on ur NPK number. P being the highest, and K somewhere in the middle. If ur N number is higher than the others then it is a nute that should more than likely be used in the veg cycle not flowering. Post Pics if u can

Never hurts anything to have plenty of N all the way to the end. It just makes the photosynthesis more efficient, producing more bud.

This is conventional wisdom but simply incorrect when it comes to the value of N during the flowering cycle. Green plants=Big plants. N levels dropping to early into flower are common and ignored too often because of this idea.

In answer to your question.

You can only look to new growth for signs of whether its stopped.

Any DARK GREEN LEATHERY leaves should get a little less dark.


Any fully clawed leaves will not recover.


And curled under tips should right themselves.

I too use a high N food during flowering. 6-3-8.

It is a common myth that you need low N during flowering.

The only people that say it isn't a myth are those that haven't had the epiphany to try and use them.

thanks guys for all the replies...sorry, cant post pic now if not i already did...

this grow im using GH nutes (maxigrow and maxibloom + big bud). I am pretty sure they have too much Nitrogen now, and since the GH maxibloom has a some N in it, im gonna feed them no more than 450ppms till they tell me that they can eat more. Sounds ok right?
