Strain suggestions for breeding

So I'm thinking about making my own seeds and decided to pick a stable strain or relatively stable at least to breed with. I've got it down to these strains:
Northern Lights
Cantaloupe Skunk (low odor pheno of Skunk #1)
Sweet Skunk
California Orange
Sweet Tooth

Which one would you choose and why? Other suggestions welcome too.

I'm not following, what male do you have or are all these in regular seed form and you're waiting to pop them?

All regs. Like a strain to inbreed and make more seeds with. I know the basics of breeding but just wanted to make some seeds of my own from a stable (not necessarily true-breeding) or somewhat stable strain.. Something simple like these basic strains.

try going wit something that no one else has done ever. Its always rewarding to smoke bud you grew, let alone a strain that you created yourself and no one else on earth has :) its a good feeling

Maybe later on i'll do that but for now i really just want something consistant and easy to grow with good effects. I only use cfl's bc i don't smoke large amounts and i can't really afford hid's.

personally, i'd work with the two most stable strains that you have there that aren't super poly hybirds from hell, a'la subcool's gear..
looking at that list, it's a pretty easy choice for me, i'd go with the northern lights and the skunk number 1 pheno that you have..
if you have grown both of these before and know the plants well, you can just work what characteristics from each line you'd like to further and bring out in the offspring, set some goals for yourself, and try and achieve what you're looking for via the new beans you create..
cross and back cross till you're happy with the end results, than continue that line for further fillial generations.

starting with two very stable parents and knowing what characteristics you're looking for further are key imvho.. otherwise you'd just be spinning your wheels and not really bettering either line in the process..

Appreciate the response racerboy. Helps a lot and clarifies what i was thinking. I don't have any of those strains but am prob gonna order one of them soon. I think it's gonna either be the NL or Skunk pheno. Such a hard choice bc I know they are both killer strains... Which would you choose?

hmm, i'd go with the nl's probably tbh.. or maybe even c99, as c99 is another great strain for the base of a breeding program.. the nl's would be more on the indica side of things, and c99 is more sativa dom, so if you like an indica, i'd go with the nl, if you like a sativa, i'd probably go with the c99..
deep chunk is another indica dom strain that's good for breeding, as well as say an afghani kush, not any sort of og, but say an afghani or a hindhu.. the closer to a land race strain you can get, the better off the results imvho.. and the work will be much easier as the pheno types of the offspring won't be all over the map as they would be if you were to start off from a poly hybrid, or even worse yet, two poly's.. chose the parents carefully imo, especially if it's a program you intend on spending any amount of time working with, you'll be glad you did..

I know Cannacopia has a c99 x deep chunk cross. Do u think it would be easy to stabilize? They also have a cheese x deep chunk that i really want but the smell is prob gonna be too much to handle.

Like Racer said NL or Skunk #!

That said if you want to do a little work Sweet Tooth x either of those would be a good starting point or NL x Blueberry crossed with Sweettooth or NL or Skunk would also be good.

Sweet Tooth = Blueberry x Grapefruit, if you crossed that to the NL or Skunk #1 you would have a wide variation of phenos to pick from to further the work. This is true with any of you crosses with exception of maybe the NL x Skunk #1 cross. Clash of the Titans from Ceres is just one of I'm sure many NL x Sk #1 crosses available.
