Who is KC Brains, and are they any good?

Hey everyone, I noticed a couple interesting strains by KC Brains.
I searched RIU, but can't find a lot of info.
The RIU search engine will display every thread where an individual used the words, KC or Brain.
I am sure there is some reviews or reports on this, but I am either to lazy or unable to find much.

Any one who has tried their gear, thanks in advance for your replies.

old breeder, used to be prominent but fell by the wayside because of a lack of stability. seeds are super inexspensive and some of his genetics are winners like his mango or kc33(i think thats the mango) and he's got alot of hit and miss. if you want to spend 100 bucks on some genetics give him a go, you'd end up with like, 50 seeds and you are bound to find something that's good. at least that's my logic when it comes to nirvana so he's actually cheaper than nirvana and nirvana IMO is less likely to give you herms when you are buying regs seeds.

Thanks for the info. Some of those old school genetics hold some treasures, but I don't think I want to waste the space trying to find one.
Thats what freebies are for. You run something you wouldn't have otherwise and it turns out to be fire! Best thing is you didn't spend anything to find out.

like omg bbq said, kc is an older breeder who has some good gear, as well as some not as good gear from what i've read..
i've never ran any, but from what i hear he has a handful of strains that are worth running, not sure which ones they would be though tbh, sorry i couldn't be of more help..
if you're looking for cheap, stable genetics, go check out sannies, he has some top notch gear, 10 beans from any where from i think $35 / 10 pack and maxes out around $50 a ten pack.. i've grown quite a few of sannie and krews gear, and don't have a single complaint about any of them..

I got a CH9 Vintage 2006. It's a wierd name but it's genetics are Afghan hash plant x PPP x Jack Herer. I would have never ordered it, but the one free fem seed has become a strain in my perpetual grow. Sometimes I wonder if it's just luck and you end up with a rare phenotype, but since you have nothing to compare it to, it seems great.
I often wonder if I ordered 5 fems, would they look like mine, or would different, stronger (or weaker) phenos present themselves.
Kinda a good incentive from the breeder to peak your interest and curiosity.

As mentioned, KC Brains is an older breeder (he's 53 years old now) based in Holland. He's been at this since at least the early 1990s. I think this is him (image hotlinked from his website):

Most of his strains are intended for outdoor growth; some are probably unstable.

The lines are inexpensive. This is in part because he had issues with improperly stored or germed ceeds a few years back, with a large percentage of non-viable ones making it to the seedbanks. Supposedly this has been addressed, not sure if it really has been, but poor germination rates were a real issue at one point.

Never grown any myself, but reportedly he does have a few good lines. A lot of people like his mango one, and I think that one took a third place at the High Times Cannabis cup more than a decade ago. His Leda Uno also won some sort of lesser award, and I've heard a few good comments about it. I've heard his Bahia Blackhead line is also worth a look. His Northern lights is probably worth a shot as a super-cheap version of same.

A good friend of mine years back, traveled to Amsterdam and bought some cyber crystal beans from kc brains.To date, it is by far one of my favorite. Hands down.

Colorado is kind of in a wierd transition now. The MMJ shops are still open, but you still need an MMJ card to use them.
The MMJ shops should be open to the public next year, so for now the only people who can access the clones, seeds, etc. from the shops are still the MMJ card holders.
The state has passed the legislation to regulate the new retail shops, they are getting the retail licenses ready, figuring out the tax rates etc. Should be open to the general public in 2014.
,303 seeds was selling some of their gear in a copuple shops in Denver, but quit doing it because Colorado never covered the selling of seeds in their laws, it remains a grey area. They posted on their site that until the new legislation is enacted, they were suspending their seed sales in MMJ shops for now. I don't know about Reserva Privada however. I have tried to purchase seeds directly from Rare Dankness and 303, but they say to use the seed banks for now.
Yeh, we have a few great breeders right here, just haven't figured out who you gotta blow to get some seeds.

It's a crapshoot with ceeds, I know but I won't be rolling the dice, so to speak on that gear.
It's not about cost of ceeds for me. More of a desire to find that interesting, underated strain.

The more I hear about Sannies, the more interested I get. There was a grower on RIU (Calicat I think) who grew some Herrijuana Jack from them. Looked awesome. They have some good looking strains.

yeah, rocky, in order to get sannies gear, you have to order from sannies shop, which isn't a bad thing imvho..

sannies is known to have some of the best customer service out of all seed banks, and not so sure if they still are giving away kick ass freebies with each order or not as i've been broke as a joke and haven't ordered anything new in awhile..
but feel safe ordering from sannies, good people's with good genetics at even better prices..

I didn't have good results last year with KC BRAINS CHOICE. I did have it in a stressful environment though. I had mild success in that same rough environment with a kc 36 fem freebie. I now have a kc 36 actually outdoor and it is looking way more awesome than last year. KC 36 has good flavor.

I have had no germination issues with kc brains seeds purchased from SOS.

I ordered these cheepies one at a time just to get the freebies with them.

I say go ahead and order them and see what you get.

But like someone else said. Outdoor is the way to go.

I found this older strain (4-5 years old I think) that seemed to be pretty popular a few years back. SOS had it in their daily specials. It is Alphakronic's Snowdawg 2. The breeder says it is a clone cutting of the original x Snowdawg BX.

I have seen many positive grow/smoke reports. I can't wait to try it.

I think Herrijuana Jack from Sannies is next on my list though.

every bean i tried to crack from alpha was a complete dud. there were also a few other members here that had similar problems.. i was a bit of an asshole to jay from alpha, but i'll never grow his gear again, or even attempt to germ a bean from them as it were..

and btw, that strains surely not 4/5 years old as i think alpha's only been around for maybe 3 years max, and that wasn't one of their first strains as i think that was like bubba love, the ones i had issues with along with one other strain that i can't remember the name of atm..
