My grow box is way to hot

If you have this much problems with 2 small CFLs you are going to be in a world of hurt when you need to add more.

Can you put the thermometer away from the light? The actual box temp might be lower, with the thermometer directly under the CFLs, you are likely getting heat off of the lamps and not getting an accurate temp reading in your box.

While this is indeed true with Cfls needing to be so close the plant itself will still be hot. I think a accurate reading for Cfls is on top the plant but under a leaf. The way to do this is get a thermometer with a temp probe

After I get off work today I'm going to get smaller fans and put intake/outtake spots. Where do I get a tent or box at? Prices? And should I stick with CFLs or go back to t5 aquarium lighting ?

He knows 80 degrees is a problem. His question was how to deal with it.picture022.jpgThis is my 3.5x3.5 grow. 8 t5's on the ceiling and 2 300w equivalent cfls and 2 120 equal cfls hanging in the middle with the plants arranged around them in a circle.

I went to an appliance store and got a big old fridge box. that's what the above grow is in. And it was free.. I just built a sturdier frame inside it and good to go.

You can get a tent for round 100 for a cheap one. No use unless you get lower then 80

or you can build a box

I don't even see a proper grow space.. I mean not to be an ass, but you need a proper grow space for good results

you can't cool air with a fan and the box fans aren't proper to use. Oscillating fan is what you need.

You need a tent or a box built... Growing in a open space IMO isn't a good option. It's a nice idea to keep everything contained

another, if normal lights off temp is 80 that's why. You need a ac 80 is even hot. Mine stays at 75 lights on and off....and I use a 400w hps... Temps like urs I would hate to see a hps in there

I see a bunch of stuff everywhere hardly any perlite and dry soil... You want a clean grow area perlite and moist soil...
sorry here is the reply I should have quoted. ya I'm new.

you need better pots and soil. The the FireDragon says. perlite and pots with bigger holes will give better drainage thus allowing air to get to the roots and drying out faster between waterings to allow you to feed it more often as well as preventing root-rot. If you paint walls white or use mylar you will greatly increase the brightness in your area for your girls. Relative humidity is also important especially in strains without mold resistance. For most of my experience, internet searching with questions will provide lots of data and often it will contradict what you already have read and heard. That is where experience and some basic marijuana plant education can help you decide what is best in your situation. Look around for list of the top 10 rules for growing or something to that effect to get things off the ground and when and if problems pop up they will be easier to pinpoint the causes because you will know how to read your plants and tell what they are telling you they need. After more experience you will be able to anticipate their needs before they have to suffer the stress of letting you know.

I meant to say "like the FireDragon says..." sounds like I was mocking him but I wasn't. he;s correct.

get a cheap fan from target for exhaust. Just keep the air circulating in and out of the box

Do you have ac that is getting to the area? if you can I would get 1 but if possible 2 small rotating fans they are very inexpensive, and most people have them usually they have 3 modes, since you plant is so small i would plant it on at the most medium, if you have 2 low may be enough, i understand what its like to only have a one spot to grow, Also if you have ever seen those fans Truckers use, You can place those up in the corner, also maybe Get a mist bottle any mist the top of your soil it may help keep temp down to some of the roots, in saying that do not overwater and this is not proven just something i do in my "hot growing place" anyhow i wish you luck, If you have any more seeds it may be a good idea to hold off unti you can figure out how to get temps down before you waste anymore seeds. Stay high & Good Bye :leaf:

Are you talking about this?
Those are T8's. There are T5, T8, and T12's. The number after the T= 1/8" so a T8 is 1" in diameter. Not as efficient as T5s, but they still will work. Use like 4 of those and you will see a drop in temperature.
