Who raises a family on $7.50 an hour? People who need their father-in-law to get them a job. In addition to working the job, I hope he is getting an education, or at least doing something to increase his value in the labor pool.

How would you know what is out there for someone getting started without an education. This young man's mother was killed in an automobile accident when he was 17,, his father is a truckdriver in Idaho with another family and has no extras money to care for joey. He was living on the streets untill we took him in. You are so conderscending to those you feel superior too. Not everyone has the same opportunities you had Redd. Don't be so fast to judge!

MM, I think Vi was being sincere. "In addition to working the job, I hope he is getting an education, or at least doing something to increase his value in the labor pool. "

I don't see anything wrong with Vi saying that he hopes a poor man strives to better himself. MM, would you rather Vi say "I hope he doesn't get an education so he doesn't increase his value in the labor pool....."?

I think Vi is a noble guy(I don't agree with the "fair tax" thing though), and I think you(MM) just have some qualms with him because of your difference in opinions. Stop thinking that Vi is a monster in every aspect ;-) hahaha......... idk, I'll shut up now:mrgreen:

Thanks, We. :)

And I was being sincere. Most of us where I was raised worked minimum wage jobs when we were starting out. Mine paid seventy-five-cents per hour. No shit.

Med seems to think that there is something nobel in being poor. I can tell you, I've been shit-poor, and I've had a lot of money. Even though having a lot of money can't buy you happiness, its a hell of a lot better than being poor.

See, what Med doesn't get is this: He believes, based upon his many posts in the forum, that poverty is set in stone. Its not ... therefore my comment about hoping the young man is getting an eduction in order to better his lot in life. Or at least improving his job skills. These are things that are lost on ultra liberals like Med.

You don't have a fucking clue! It's funny how you could solve all the worlds problems if the poor people just worked harder and got an education. Problems exist that you and most rich people would never even think about. Like Hey, there are no fucking lobs left for educated fools, they've been outsourced. Engineers are now being brought in from India under H1B visas and paid 1/3 prevailing wages, Why would a young person want to spend 4-6 years in school and 50-100K on an education to be turned away at the gates in favor of an Indian from India. It used to be, get an education and your life will be wonderful, not anymore. there are more educated people than educated jobs. You have master degree people working at 7/11. The opportunities of our youth no longer prevail.

Companies are dumping older employees and using cheap labor. they are trying to avoid the high cost of medical older employees bring with them. the job market is not that rosy, even for educated fools. Your I can solve everything ploy is not cohesive and is down right condescending

No fool like an old fool, Med.

So, your take is what? Get a minimum wage job and never try to improve your worth in the labor pool? That seems like a recipe for a life stuck in a rut of poverty to me.

Yeah, it's so simple, right Vi? Just get an education and life will be wonderful. Oh. I almost forgot, work hard. Another fallacy of the libertarian viewpoint. Read my treatise on libertarianism and revel in the truth.

No, "hard work" isn't a guarantee of gaining wealth. There are plenty of people who work hard and never succeed. A lot of success depends upon WHAT you work hard at. There's where the education comes in. Or at least there's where the "smarts" comes in.

The guy digging the ditches so the plumbing contractor can lay the pipes works really hard. He can continue to dig the ditches the rest of his life, as you propose, or he can learn how to connect the pipes. Then he can start reading ... and if he can't read, he can learn. After he learns to read, he can study for the contractor's exam. Once passed, he can become a plumber working for someone else. If he really applies himself, he can start working for himself. Then he can strive to become the very best plumber he can. Once there, he can start designing plumbing jobs ... and directing his own crews. Do you know how much money those guys make, Med? Not bad for a ditch digger, eh? :blsmoke:

This I must read. Where exactly can I find this masterpiece of written discourse?

Why do I suspect that any 'truth' we revel in will not be objective?

Equal opportunity does not guarantee equal outcome. Something the class warlords will never admit. Leftist social policy is designed to maintain a permanent underclass providing job security for sociology majors. The symbiotic beauty of such a system is that both client and provider vote Democrat.

You are spot on Johnny. Med has made it very clear in his mutitudes of posts that he would much rather see a rich man fail than a poor man succeed.

I wonder why every time you post it concerns my Ideas. I guess maybe they are sinking in and the pain is just too much to bear. Maybe your head will just explode with my ideas and you'll become like a human after all.

Why? Because you have the most faulty, anti-liberty ideas on the forum. You are consistently in error Med. Those errors need correcting, or at the very least must be rebutted. Simple, no?

Do you deny that your past posts indicate that you would rather see a rich man fail than a poor man succeed?

And as an after thought ... thanks for reducing the size of your font. It was getting annoying.

i find it interesting that you equate an exploding head with being human. this follows perfectly with the idea, popular among liberal elitists, that humans are mindless sheep who must be taken care of lest they wander off and hurt themselves. i suppose this explains why you so earnestly follow in the wake of the proponents of the nanny state.

Wow, another elitest libertarian. What rock did you crawl out from under, Oh, I get it, from under the ice. I'm pretty sure you've joined with all the other "libs" on this site to counter any cohesive arguements for humanity. Yeah, it must be nice to be better than everyone else.

You don't annoy me at all, Med. In fact, I find you to be quite the comedian and very entertaining. It was your obscene, braggadocious bold font that was annoying. Nope, I'm not "concerne" at all.

I have a question for all you libs...libertarians thats is......you guys dont believe in any market regulation at all, or is some ok? What about regulations on outsourcing so were not supporting communism? Is the minimum wage a bad thing? Wouldnt the middle class disappear without market regulation? Whats to stop monopolies? It seems to me you guys dont trust the governments, why do you trust the corporationions...do you think they would act ethically if there were no regulations....arent regulations just to keep the corporations from exploiting the working class...whats wrong with that....thanks in advance for your guys answers

Good questions, maybe you should have numbered them;-)... I'm looking forward to an answer myself.

But, either way you look at it, the "rich" don't want to share their wealth with the "poor".. Its just the nature of the game, the rich want to further consolidate their wealth to their selves, and the poor get screwed in the process..... And you know what they say "it takes money to make money"... Maybe the problem is the human species? :? Just a thought.
